THE BEST SONGS OF RAJA MEHDI ALI KHAN – PART I

I am fond of calling myself a lyrical man; words of the songs are often the most important part of the songs for me. Indeed, on the Facebook I have a page titled ‘Lyrical’ to honour and pay tribute to various lyricists. I have several (almost a dozen) posts on  my blog on my favourite lyricist and poet Shakeel Badayuni.

Raja Mehdi Ali Khan was chosen by me as Lyricist #9 (not in any particular order or ranking) in Remembering Great Lyricists series. He has been a favourite and I already have a comprehensive post on him: The Magic Of The Lyrics Of Raja Mehdi Ali Khan.

Here is now a more detailed post. The following posts about Raja Mehdi Ali Khan’s songs have been reconstructed from the same Facebook page Lyrical.

I started the series to bring home the point that whilst we genuinely love everything that Shakeel wrote, many other contemporary poets and lyricists were also good and popular.

So far, on Lyrical, I have taken up eight lyricists of great fame:

1. Shailendra. The opening song that I selected was Kuchh aur zamaana kehta hai.
2. Rajinder Krishan with his Mujhase mat poochh mere ishq mein.
3. Kaifi Azmi with his Jaane kyaa dhoondati rehati hain ye aankhen mujh mein.
4. Sahir Ludhianvi with Aurat ne janam diya mardon ko.
5. Majrooh Sultanpuri with Teri aankhon ke siwa duniya mein rakha kyaa hai. (Yet to be published here).
6. Jaan Nisar Akhtar with his Mujhape ilzaam-e-bewafai hai. (Yet to be published here).
7. Hasrat Jaipuri with his Aansu bhari hain ye jeevan ki raahen. (Yet to be published here).
8. Qamar Jalalabadi with his Ai meri zindagi tujhe dhoondun kahan. (Yet to be published here).

Tonight, as I said, we take up our ninth lyricst, Raja Mehdi Ali Khan‘s creation.

He is my second most favourite lyricist after Shakeel Badayuni. As you go through the posts you would realise as to why.

Having been born in 1928 in Jehlum in undivided India, when the partition of India took place, Raja Mehdi Ali Khan and wife Tahira refused to go to Pakistan despite communal riots. His patriotism came to fore in 1948 itself when he wrote the famous number: Watan ki raah mein watan ke naujwaan shahid hon for the movie Shaheed starring Dilip Kumar.

Raja Mehdi Ali Khan paired with the Music Director Madan Mohan to produce some of Lata Mangeshkar’s best numbers. She has acknowledged so.

Raja appears to have done everything at a relatively young age. It is as if he knew that he is going to die young at the age of 37 only on 29 Jul 1966.

When Shakeel gave his first film song in 1947 Dard: Afsana likh rahi hoon, Shakeel was 31 years old. Raja Mehdi Ali Khan was just 18 when he gave his, in his first movie Do Bhai. And what a song it was, sung by Geeta Dutt.

Indeed, Raja Mehdi Ali Khan together with Rajinder Krishan emerged as the lyricist of choice for heroines. Some of his best songs are:

1. Aap ki nazaron ne samajha pyaar ke kaabil mujhe.
2. Agar mujhase mohabbat hai mujhe sab apne gham de do.
3. Sapano mein agar mere tum aao to so jaayun.
4. Naaina barse rimjhim rimjhim.
5. Lag jaao gale ke phir ye hasin raat ho na ho.
6. Naino mein badra chhaye.

It is not as if he didn’t write for heroes. Taste some of his best there too:

1. Main nigahen tere chehre se hatayun kaise.
2. Tum bin jeevan kaise beeta poochho mere dil se.
3. Aap youn hi agar hamase milate rahe.

Song #1
Mera sundar sapna beet gaya

(Poster courtesy: www.cinestaan.com)

The first song that I give you is from his first movie, the 1947 movie Do Bhai, a Munshi Dil movie starring Ulhas, Kamini Kaushal, Ramayan Tiwari, Rajan Haksar and Paro Devi. Geeta Dutt sang six of the nine songs of the movie, Paro Devi two and Mohammad Rafi one.

The song was composed by SD Burman and was an instant hit together with Yaad karoge, also sung by Geeta Dutt.

Please enjoy: Mera sundar sapna beet gaya….

meraa sundar sapana biit gayaa
mai.n prem me.n sab kuchh haar gayii
bedad.r zamaanaa jiit gayaa
meraa sundar sapanaa biit gayaa

is jiivan ko ab aag lage
mujhe cho.Dake jiivan miit gayaa
meraa sundar sapanaa biit gayaa

Song #2
Yaad karoge ek din humko yaad karoge

We started with his 1947 movie Do Bhai song. In a way, that wasn’t his first movie. His first movie was in 1946: Eight Days in which he was a Screenwriter and Dialogue Writer. So, I have correctly given you his first movie with songs: Do Bhai.

It was a Filmistan production directed by Munshi Dil. It starred Ulhas, Kamini Kaushal, Noor Jehan, Dipak Mukherjee, Ramayan Tiwari, Rajan Haksar and Paro in lead roles.

Songs of the movie were composed by SD Burman.

Very few lyricists are there whose very first movie has this kind of reception and impact. And the success of the movie depended to a great extent on Raja and Sachin da. They made the following songs:

1. Mera sundar sapna beet gaya – I have already given you.
2. Yaad karoge, ek din humko yaad karoge.
3. Aji preet ka nata toot gaya.
4. Duniya mein mere aaj andhera hi andhera.
5. Mere piya to base pardes re.
6. Yad rakhna mujhe yaad rakhna.
7. Hamen chhod piya kis des.
8. Amwa ki dali pe koel bole.
9. Kabhi bhule se na poochhi man ki baat.

If Raja Mehdi Ali Khan was just 17 years old when he wrote these songs, how old do you think Geeta Dutt (then Geeta Roy) was? She was just 16. This is how it came about:

Geeta Dutt (née Roy), born in 1930, had no formal training in music. Music director Hanuman Prasad heard her voice and made her sing two lines in a chorus in his film Bhakt Prahlad (1946). Considering a film took one to one and a half years those days, young Geeta would have been about 15 years old when she sang two lines in the Chorus.

SD Burman heard those two lines, and though her voice was part of that chorus, he realized her potential. He went to her place in Dadar to persuade her father to let her sing in his forthcoming film Do Bhai (1947). And that’s how history was made: two great personalities: Raja Mehdi Ali Khan and Geeta Dutt.

Please enjoy her second song: Yaad karoge ek din humko yaad karoge….

yad karoge
yad karoge, yad karoge
ek din ham ko yad karoge
tadapoge, fariyad karoge
ek din ham ko yad karoge

ayegi jab sawan ki rate
jag uthegi bholi bate
bholi bate dard se dil
dard se dil abad karoge
ek din hamko yad karoge

jise basaya tha kabhi man me
dhundhoge, dhundhoge
use bagh me ban me dhundhoge
dil ka sokun barbad karoge
ek din ham ko yad karoge

dil me basa ke chhod diya hai
apana hi ghar barbad kiya hai
kaise use kaise use abad karoge
ek din hamko yad karoge

kho kar hamko pa na sakoge
honge jaha ham a na sakoge
a na sakoge, pa na sakoge
tadapoge, tadapoge fariyad karoge
ek din ham ko yad karoge
yad karoge,yad karoge
ek din hamko yad karoge

Song #3
Hello hello gentleman

Raja wrote songs for only one movie in 1947.

He wrote songs for two movies in 1948: Actress and Shaheed.

Actress was a Najam Naqvi movie starring David Abraham and Rehana.

Shyam Sundar composed following three of his songs; the others were of Naqshab Jarchvi and Pyarelal Santoshi:

1. Ho gori tera banka chaila.
2. More angana balam ka.
3. Hello hello gentleman.

You won’t be able to guess which one I shall be giving you. Actually, you may if you have read my description in the first song (Day#1, Song #1). In that I mentioned that some of Lata Mangeshkar’s best songs (as acknowledged by her) were penned by Raja Mehdi Ali Khan and Rajinder Krishan.

Here is Lata singing her first song with Raja. It is her duet with Shamshad Begum.

Please enjoy: Hello hello gentleman….

Song #4
Watan ki raah mein watan ke naujwan shaheed hon

Yesterday, we started with our 9th Lyricist (not in any order or ranking): Raja Mehdi Ali Khan and took up two songs from his 1947 movie Do Bhai (Mera sundar sapna beet gaya, Yaad karoge ek din hum ko) and one from his second 1947 movie Actress (Hello, hello gentleman which happened to be the first song that Lata sang for him).

If you think that he started with a bang in the very first year, then see what is coming up in 1948:

(courtesy: en.wikipedia.com)

He wrote songs for the Ramesh Saigal movie Shaheed starring Dilip Kumar, Kamini Kaushal, Chandra Mohan and Leela Chitnis. Wikipedia wrongly brings out that the songs were penned by Qamar Jalalabadi. Actually, Qamar wrote only two songs for the movie. Five songs were penned by Raja Mehdi Ali Khan and one by Naqshab Jarchvi.

Indeed, it is Raja’s song that is the most popular song of the movie. All songs were composed by Ghulam Haider:

1. Watan ki raah mein watan ke naujwan shaheed hon (Fast).
2. Watan ki raah mein watan ke naujwan shaheed hon (Slow).
3. Aaja bedardi balma koi ro ro pukare.
4. Hum kahan aur tum kahan.
5. Teri aisi ki taisi.

When I was a child, I used to sing the first song and feel proud of our martyrs who sacrificed their lives to get us independence. This song features in my list of Best Azaadi songs.

Please enjoy Mohammad Rafi and Mastan singing: Watan ki raah mein watan ke naujwan shaheed hon….

watan ki raah me watan ke naujawa shahid ho
watan ki raah me watan ke naujawa shahid ho
pukarte hain ye jamin o aasma shahid ho
pukarte hain ye jamin o aasma shahid ho
watan ki raah me watan ke naujawa shahid ho
watan ki raah me watan ke naujawa shahid ho

shahid teri maut hi
shahid teri maut hi tere watan ki zindagi
tere lahu se jaag uthegi is chaman ki zindagi
tere lahu se jaag uthegi is chaman ki zindagi
khilenge phul us jagah pe tu jahan shahid ho
khilenge phul us jagah pe tu jahan shahid ho
watan ki raah me watan ke naujawa shahid ho
watan ki raah me watan ke naujawa shahid ho

gulam uth watan ke dushmano se intqaam le
in apne dono baajuo se khanjaro ka kaam le
chaman ke vaaste chaman ke baghba shahid ho
watan ki raah me watan ke naujawa shahid ho
watan ki raah me watan ke naujawa shahid ho

pahad tak bhi kaapne lage tere junun se
tu aasma pe inqalab likh de apne khun se
khun se, khun se
jamin nahi tera watan hai aasma shahid ho
jamin nahi tera watan hai aasma shahid ho
watan ki raah me watan ke naujawa shahid ho
watan ki raah me watan ke naujawa shahid ho

Song #5
Mere dil ki duniya pe chhane lage

In the year 1949 he didn’t have a movie to his credit.

And then, in the year 1950 he had as many as six movies whose songs he wrote. The first one was Maang. It was a movie directed by Ali Sagheer Usmani and starred Ramola Devi and Wasti.

This movie is important for my favourite singer Lata ji. She sang a duet with Shamshad Begum for the 1948 movie Actress (Hello hello gentleman). In this movie she sang her first solo for Raja: Mere dil ki duniya pe chhane lage. Indeed, this was the only song out of ten songs of the movie that he wrote. The songs were composed by Ghulam Mohammad.

Please enjoy Lata’s fist solo with Raja Mehdi Ali Khan: Mere dil ki duniya pe chhane lage…

mere dil ki duniya pe chhane lage
o ho mujhko bahut yaad aane lage
mere dil ki duniya pe chhane lage
o ho mujhko bahut yaad aane lage

bade tang dil hain vo pahle hi din
ho mohabbat me apni jalane lage
bade tang dil hain vo pahle hi din
ho mohabbat me apni jalane lage
mere dil ki duniya pe chhane lage
o ho mujhko bahut yaad aane lage

nazar meri unse chitakne lagi
mere nain unse lajane lagi
nazar meri unse chitakne lagi
mere nain unse lajane lagi
mere dil ki duniya pe chhane lage
o ho mujhko bahut yaad aane lage

mera shokh dil le gaye chhin ke
ho ummido ke nagme sunane lage
mera shokh dil le gaye chhin ke
ho ummido ke nagme sunane lage
mere dil ki duniya pe chhane lage
o ho mujhko bahut yaad aane lage

Song #6
Preet laga ke maine ye phal paaya….

His second movie in 1950 was Aankhen. This is really very significant in his career; this was the first movie in which he paired with Madan Mohan to make songs.

This movie was directed by Devendra Goel and starred Shekhar, Bharat Bhushan and Nalini Jaywant.

Raja Mehdi Ali Khan penned four out of eight songs in the movie. These were:

1. Preet laga ke maine ye phal paaya.
2. Ham ishq mein barbaad hain.
3. Hamse na dil ko lagaana musafir.
4. Kisi ki yaad mein ro ro ke.

I feel like giving you all four.

However, lets start with the first song.

Do you remember when I shared with you this interesting fact that in his 19 years career as a singer, Mukesh sang only nine songs for Madan Mohan and Preet laga ke maine phal paaya was his first.

Please enjoy Mukesh singing: Preet laga ke maine ye phal paaya….

prit laga ke maine ye phal paya sud budh khoi chain gawaya
prit laga ke maine ye phal paya sud budh khoi chain gawaya
tum ne mujhse pyar kiya tha ulfat ka iqarar kiya tha
apna banake pahle ye bisraya prit ka wada khub nibhaya
prit laga ke maine ye phal paya sud budh khoi chain gawaya
prit laga ke maine ye phal paya sud budh khoi chain gawaya

aa ke jo dekhe tu dukh mere aa ke jo dekhe tu dukh mere
kya na bahenge aansu tere dukh de mujhko
tune kya sukh paya tujhko bedardi reham na aaya
prit laga ke maine ye phal paya sud budh khoi chain gawaya
prit laga ke maine ye phal paya sud budh khoi chain gawaya

ek jhalak phir se dikhla de khwab mein aakar itna bata de
jyot bujha kar in nayno ki kiske man ka deep jalaya
prit laga ke maine ye phal paya sud budh khoi chain gawaya
chain gawaya chain gawaya

Song #7
Ham ishq mein barbaad hain

What a lyricist Raja Mehdi Ali Khan was. In the first two days, in just 6 songs, I gave you the following:

1. His first song in the 1947 movie Bhai Bhai.
2. Geeta Dutt’s first song in the movies.
3. Lata Mangeshkar’s first duet with Raja.
4. Lata Mangeshkar’s first solo with Raja.
5. Mukesh’s first song with Madan Mohan, which happens to be a Raja Mehdi Ali Khan song.

We started with 1950 movie Aankhen songs yesterday. I gave you just one song that was sung by Mukehs on the composition by Madan Mohan: Preet laga ke maine ye phal paya.

Left to myself, as I said, I would give you all four songs of the movie that Raja wrote. I am a Lyrical person and I find his lyrics that good.

However, I end with a song sung by Mohammad Rafi.

Please enjoy: Ham ishq mein barbaad hain….

hum ishq mein barabad hain, barabad rahenge
dil royega tere liye aansoo na bahenge
ham barabad rahenge, ham barabad rahenge

seene mein chhupa rakhenge hum raz-e-muhabbat
ai jane muhabbat tujhe rusava na karenge
ham barabad rahenge, ham barabad rahenge
hum ishq mein barabad hain, barabad rahenge
dil royega tere liye aansoo na bahenge
ham barabad rahenge, ham barabad rahenge

kisamat se shiqayat hai, gila tujh se nahi hai
tu ne jo diya dard woh hans hans ke sahenge
ham barabad rahenge, ham barabad rahenge
hum ishq mein barabad hain, barabad rahenge
dil royega tere liye aansoo na bahenge
ham barabad rahenge, ham barabad rahenge

dhoondhengi na ab tujh ko ye benur nigahen
tu samane bhi aye to, dekha na karenge
ham barabad rahenge, ham barabad rahenge
hum ishq mein barabad hain, barabad rahenge
dil royega tere liye aansoo na bahenge
ham barabad rahenge, ham barabad rahenge

Song #8
Ban thhan ke chali saj dhaj ke chali

(courtesy: lyricsbogie.com)

Now we come to a movie that has been made several times: the 1950 movie Bhai Bahen starring Bharat Bhushan and Geeta Bali.

Raja paired with Shyam Sundar again.

There were ten songs in the movie. Raja wrote four and others were penned by Ishwar Chandra Kapoor, Rajinder Krishan, and SH Bihari.

His four songs were:

1. Ban thhan ke chali saj dhaj ke chali.
2. Ham chand se ek dulhan.
3. Judai mein kisi ke geet filmi gaate phirte hain.
4. Tumko hamse pyar hai.

I am giving you the first song. Can you guess who sang it?

Please enjoy Talat Mehmood singing: Ban thhan ke chali saj dhaj ke chali….

ban than ke chali saj dhaj ke chali
rani karke har singar
dekho chali piya ke dwar
dekho chali piya ke dwar
ban than ke chali

jinhone nazo se pala tha unse juda hai hona
ek aankh me hasi bhari hai ek aankh me rona
amma ke naino me neer bhar aaya
doli uthaye kahar dekho chali piya ke dwar
dekho chali piya ke dwar
ban than ke chali saj dhaj ke chali
rani karke har singar
dekho chali piya ke dwar
ban than ke chali

ab kya wada babul raja ladki hui parayi
doli ke sang chal diye dulha
piche baap aur bhai
chali naya ek desh basane suna kar gharbar
dekho chali piya ke dwar
ban than ke chali saj dhaj ke chali
rani karke har singar
dekho chali piya ke dwar
dekho chali piya ke dwar
ban than ke chali

Song #9
Dil diya hai aapne to mehrbani aapki

His next movie in 1950 was Sangram; another title that has been made several times.

Ashok Kumar and Nalini Jaywant were the lead cast.

C Ramchandra composed seven songs in the movie. These were penned by Pyarelal Santoshi and Brajendra Gaud in addition to Raja.

Raja wrote only one: Dil diya hai aapne to mehrbani aapki.

This was sung by Lata and shows how she progressed with his songs.

Please enjoy: Dil diya hai aapne to mehrbani aapki….

dil diya hai aapne to meharbani aapki
meharbani aapki
ham na ab wapas karenge ye nishani aapki
ye nishani aapki
dil diya hai aapne to meharbani aapki
meharbani aapki

shukriya kahte ham is tohfe ko karte hai kabul
shukriya kahte ham is tohfe ko karte hai kabul
ja se pyara hai hame bage mohabbat ka ye phul
ja se pyara hai hame bage mohabbat ka ye phul
hum to kis kabil the ye hai kadardani aapki
dil diya hai aapne to meharbani aapki
meharbani aapki
ham na ab wapas karenge ye nishani aapki
ye nishani aapki

aap aaye meri dunia me inayat sukriya
aap aaye meri dunia me inayat sukriya
muskurahat lab pe aankho me mohabbat sukriya
muskurahat lab pe aankho me mohabbat sukriya
ab hua malum ham hai jindgani aapki
meharbani aapki
dil diya hai aapne to meharbani aapki
meharbani aapki
ham na ab wapas karenge ye nishani aapki
ye nishani aapki
dil diya hai aapne to meharbani aapki
meharbani aapki

Song #10
Dekh gagan mein kali ghata kya kehti hai

Muqaddar was his next movie in 1950. The movie starred Kishore Kumar and Nalini Jaywant and Iftekkar.

Khemchand Prakash, Bhola Shreshtha and James Singh were together as the Music Director of the movie and composers of songs. Bharat Vyas, Raja Mehdi Ali Khan, Raj Shekhar and Brindra Gaud penned nine songs, out of which Raja wrote four.

These were the four that he wrote:

1. Dekh gagan mein kali ghata kya kehti hai.
2. Jab nainon mein koi aan base.
3. Aahen bhar bhar ke tujhako yaad.
4. Jo karna hai karlo aaj.

Nalini Jaywant was a good dancer and fine actress. However, how many of you have heard her sing? You didn’t? Well, do it now. Also, don’t miss out on the excellence of the simple lyrics by Raja.

Please enjoy Nalini Jaywant singing and transporting you to an era that ended but we never wanted it to end: Dekh gagan mein kali ghata kya kehti hai…

dekh gagan me
dekh gagan me kaali ghata
kya kahti hai kahti hai
dekh gagan me
dur kahi dur kahi
koyal ki sada kya kahti hai, kahti hai
dekh gagan me

roz aaye aisi rate
roz aaye aisi rate
jaan le mere man ki bate
kaise kahu sharmayi nigah
kya kahti hai kahti hai
dekh gagan me

aankho ki jo bat maane
tu bedard hai
tu bedard hai tu kya jane
husn ki har khamosh ada
kya kahti hai kahti hai
dekh gagan me

kisse mohabbat hai batla de
ha prem ras ras barsa de
dekh pawan ki mast ghataye
dekh pawan ki mast hawa
kya kahti hai kahti hai
dekh gagan me
dekh gagan me kaali ghata
kya kahti hai kahti hai
dekh gagan me

Song #11
Dil ke tukade tujhe seene se laga loon

His next movie in 1950 was Nirdhosh directed by Najam Naqvi and starring Kuldip Kaur and KN Singh.

Shyam Sundar composed ten songs of the movie out of which Raja penned six and others were by Asad Bhopali and SH Bihari. These were his six songs:

1. Dil ke tukade tujhe.
2. Dil na lagaana.
3. Maaro na nainwa ke baan.
4. Mere pi hain jahan.
5. Ae ishq hamen awaaz na de.
6. Chhammak chhallo.

By this time, Raja was just 21 years old and had fully established himself. I would say that for someone as young as he (he died at the age of 37), his lyrics were extraordinary. I single him out as one lyricist who understood the emotions of female protagonists rather well.

You would have noticed that the songs that I select of a particular lyricist are meant to show you the development of the lyricist from a sapling to a fruit bearing tree. Please recall that 14 years later, just two years before he died he would write an iconic female song: Lag jaa gale ke phir ye hasin raat ho na ho, which not only is a song by which Lata ji is remembered but also Sadhana on whom Raj Khosla made a trilogy of films.

Coming back to Nirdosh, this is a song sung by Meena Kapoor (who also sang Shailendra’s Kuchh aur zamaana kehta hai but much later in Chhoti Chhoti Baatein).

Please enjoy: Dil ke tukade tujhe seene se laga loon….

dil ke tukade tujhe seene se laga lu
aaja apni soyi hui takdir jaga lu
aaja dil ke tukade
meri barbad na ho wakt ki nisani tu hai
meri barbad na ho wakt ki nisani tu hai
meri biti hui khusiyo ki kahani tu hai
dil me rakh lu
dil me rakh lu tujhe aankho me bitha lu
aaja dil ke tukade tujhe sine se laga lu
aaja dil ke tukade

ae meri pyar ki tasvir meri god me aa
ae meri pyar ki tasvir meri god me aa
meri hansti hui takdir meri god me aa
ae mere chand
ae mere chand diye ghi ke jala lu
aaja dil ke tukade tujhe sine se laga lu
aaja dil ke tukade

manu na tu hi meri jaan pi aata nhi kyun
apni bahon ke mujhe har pahnata nhi kyun
aag jo dil me lagi hai wo bhujha lu
aaja dil ke tukade tujhe sine se laga lu
aaja dil ke tukade

Song #12
Sitamgar sitamgar kiya vaar

As I progress through the career of Raja Mehdi Ali Khan, you would be getting glimpses of why he is a favourite with me.

(Courtesy: en.wikipedia.org)

We now come to his last movie in 1950: Magroor. Cinematographer RD Mathur directed this movie, a Wadia production.

Nigar Sultana, Paidi Jairaj (a Dadasaheb Phalke award winner actor), Meena Kumari and Rehman were the lead cast of the movie.

Sajjad Hussain, Bulo C Rani and Ram Punjwani were the Music Directors of the movie. There were eight songs in the movie:

1. “Toot Gaya Haye Toot Gaya” Mohammed Rafi, Shamshad Begum, Rajkumari Dubey Mullaji
2. “Badi Bhool Huyi Tujhe Pyar” Vishni Lal Zia Sindhi
3. “Sitamgar Sitamgar Kiya Vaar” Geeta Dutt Raja Mehdi Ali Khan
4. “Hum To Tere Dil Ke Bangle Me Aana Mangta” G. M. Durrani, Shamshad Begum
5. “Tera Mujhko Satana” Ishu, Shrimati Lal
6. “Tumhe Bago Me Savan Me” Shamshad Begum
7. “Unpe Dil Aa Gaya”
8. “Tik Tik Bole O Bole Mere Dil Ki Ghadi”

Songs 3 to 8 were all penned by Raja Mehdi Ali Khan. As an aside, I must bring out that in the best song of the movie Toot gaya hai toot gaya, Rajkumari Dubey sang with Shanshad Begum and Mohammad Rafi. She was a playback singer in her own right at that stage until by Pakeezah she stood in the queue to be taken in a chorus (to make both ends meet), was noticed by Naushad (after Ghulam Mohammad, the MD of the movie died) and was given a song by Naushad to sing in order to honour her: Najariya ki maari.

Coming back to Magroor, here we have Geeta Dutt singing for Meena Kumari.

Please enjoy: Sitamgar sitamgar kiya vaar….

sitamgar sitamgar sitamgar sitamgar
sitamgar sitamgar sitamgar sitamgar
kiya vaar teri nigaho ne dil par
kiya vaar teri nigaho ne dil par
main kaise sahungi sitam o sitamgar
koi mere dil me na ab tak samaya
koi meri aankho ko ab tak na bhaya
mere mann ke mandir me koi na aaya
koi na aaya
tere samne jhuk gaya kyu mera sar
main kaise sahungi sitam o sitamgar
kiya vaar teri nigaho ne dil par

tere paas aane ko jee chahta hai
nigahe milane ko jee chahta hai
mohabbat jatane ko jee chahta hai
jee chahta hai
na jane mujhe kya hua tujhse milkar
main kaise sahungi sitam o sitamgar
kiya vaar teri nigaho ne dil par

main apni khatao pe sharma rahi hu
juda ho ke tujhse main ghabra rahi hu
main dil me umango ko tadpa rahi hu
main tadpa rahi hu
tujhe kya mila mujhko betal banakar
main kaise sahungi sitam o sitamgar
kiya vaar teri nigaho ne dil par
sitamgar sitamgar sitam o sitamgar

Song #13
Kaise tum bin kategi umariya

In the last four days we covered 10 of his movies from 1947 Do Bhai to 1950 Magroor with their 43 songs, out of which I gave you 12.

His first movie in 1951 was Gumashta in which he was the Dialogue Writer too.

Datta Kargaonkar composed nine songs in the movie; two by Waheed Qureshi, one by Noor Devasi and six by Raja Mehdi Ali Khan.

Here are his six:

1. Tera gora gora gaal.
2. Dil naache aur gaye jawani.
3. Kaise tum bin kategi umariya.
4. Dil de do ya dil jao.
5. Ishq base hain shehr mein.
6. Ishq base hain shehr mein (2).

The only song in all these sung by Lata Mangeshkar is Song #3. As soon as you listen to it you are bound to understand why Lata Mangeshkar is my favourite singer.

Please enjoy: Kaise tum bin kategi umariya…..

kaise tum bin kategi umariya
umariya are o
kaise tum bin kategi umariya
umariya are o mohe itna bata
mohe itna bata do sawariya
sawariya are o
kaise tum bin kategi umariya

apni aankho me kisko basaye hue
mujhse jate ho aankhe churaye hue
mujhse jate ho aankhe churaye hue
kaun bairan se
kaun bairan se lagi nazariya
nazariya are o
kaise tum bin kategi umariya

sare wade tum apne bhula ke chale
ho hans ke dil le liya phir rula ke chale
rula ke chale yu ujado na
yu ujado na man ki nagariya
nagariya are o
kaise tum bin kategi umariya

mera jivan sazakar na jao piya
mere man ko basakar na jao
man ke raja na
man ke raja na luto nagariya
nagariya are o
kaise tum bin kategi umariya
umariya are o mohe itna bata
mohe itna bata do sawariya
sawariya are o
kaise tum bin kategi umariya

Song #14
Dil naache aur gaye jawani

You have a surprise coming up now and I bet you won’t be able to believe.

I am going to give you a second song from the 1951 movie Gumashta.

First of all you must be wondering what does Gumashta mean. Well, it means a Pimp!

This song is sung by GM Durrani, Mohammad Rafi’s guru and Jagjit Kaur only with some interluding words. Do you recall Jagjit Kaur? She is the widow of recently expired Khayyam and you would be stunned by her interludes.

You would also be stunned by Datta Kargaonkar’s composition with Western music fusion including somewhere close to the end Spanish music complete with castanets.

Please enjoy: Dil naache aur gaye jawani…

dil nache hoye dil nache
aur gaye jawani, gaye jawani
dil nache, dil nache
aur gaye jawani, gaye jawani
jhum jhum ithlaye jawani gaye jawani
jhum jhum ithlaye jawani gaye jawani
dil nache hoye dil nache
aur gaye jawani, gaye jawani

angdai jo lun sharma ke
dil le jaaun aankh mila ke
angdai jo lun sharma ke
dil le jaaun aankh mila ke
ghum ghum lahraye jawani gaye jawani

aa aa meri aankhe hai do paimane
pile pile mere diwane
meri aankhe hai do paimane
pile pile mere diwane
rum jhum balkhaye jawani gaaye jawani
dil nache haay dil nache
aur gaye jawani, gaye jawani

Song #15
Pritam meri duniya mein do din to rahe hote

His next movie in 1951 was Ada, a Devendra Goel movie starring Shekhar, Madan Mohan, Shantakumari, Miss Mohna and Prem Dhawan himself who was also the leading lyricist of songs that were composed by Madan Mohan. Prem Dhawan wrote four, Saraswati Kumar Deepak wrote two and Behzad Lucknavi and Raja Mehdi Ali Khan wrote one each.

The only song written by Raja also happens to be a Lata Mangeshkar song.

Please enjoy: Pritam meri duniya mein do din to rahe hote…

pritam meri duniya me do din to rahe hote
pritam meri duniya me do din to rahe hote
ham prem ke sagar me ik sath bahe hote
pritam meri duniya me do din to rahe hote
pritam meri duniya me

gar yuhi bichhadana tha hamse tujhe o zalim
hamse tujhe o zalim
do bol mohabbat ke hamse na kahe hote
pritam meri duniya me

bedard agar tujhako gairo hi ka hona tha
gairo hi ka hona tha
vade vo vafaao ke hamse na kie hote
pritam meri duniya me do din to rahe hote
ham prem ke sagar me ik sath bahe hote
pritam meri duniya me

Song #16
Jaane waali tadpaane waali mukhada dikha ja

His next movie in 1951 was Ustad Pedro with Shaikh Mukhtar in the title role and Begum Para as Rani.

If you think Ustad Pedro was a rare name, I would like to tell you that there are any number of movies with Ustad and Pedro and a 1971 movie exactly of the same name.

The songs of the movie were composed by C Ramchandra. Raja wrote all eight of them. Most of the songs were sung by Chitalkar’s favourite singer Lata Mangeshkar and he himself and he gave only two songs to Shamshad Begum:

1. Jaane waali tadpaane waali mukhada dikha ja.
2. Kisi ko de gaye ho kya nishani.
3. Karo na ishare piya pyare (Shamshad).
4. Dil ka ye engine seetiyan maare.
5. Keechad mein ek pari se.
6. Duniya walo hosh sambhalo (Lata and Rafi).
7. Tere dil pe jaadu kar gaya mera paan.
8. Mere husn ke charche aam huye hain gali gali.

I shall be giving you two.

The first one was sung by C Ramchandra and Lata. It was difficult to find this song on the net as the usual places it has been taken off!

But, persistence paid off and here it is with the kind of music C Ramchandra is fond of, eg, in Albela. Just think of Raja writing this! But, then I have already told you about his having a funny streak too!

Please enjoy: Jaane waali tadpaane waali mukhada dikha ja….

o jane wali tadpane wali
mukhda dikhla ja
dekho ji hume na chheda karo
nazre hume na ghera karo
dekho ji hume na chheda karo
nazre hume na ghera karo
hum apna jate tum kyu bulate
karti do bate bhula

jabse tujhse naina lade
chaurahe me hum do rahte khade
chaurahe me hum do rahte khade
jabse tujhse naina lade
chaurahe me hum do rahte khade

naina na thakte rasta hai takte
pas apne humko tu bula

Song #17
Karo na ishare piya pyare

I had promised you that I would give you two songs of the 1951 movie Ustad Pedro starring Shaikh Mukhtar in title role (he was also the producer) and Begum Para.

Raja wrote eight songs and because C Ramchandra was to compose them, he had Lata Mangeshkar in six of them (either solo or with him) and had Shamshad Begum sing two of them.

I gave you one which was delightful but difficult to find. Typical C Ramchandra music with bongos and other Western instruments.

Shamshad Begum came equal to such music and sang this one. Of course Raja too came equal to writing such lyrics.

Please enjoy: Karo na ishare piya pyare….

karo na ishare piya pyaare
aaungi main nadiya kinaare
karo na ishare piya pyaare
aaungi main nadiya kinaare
karo na ishare piya pyaare
aaungi main nadiya kinaare

o ho chhota sa jiya hai mera
main dar jaaungi
laaj ke maare main mar jaaungi
o ho chhota sa jiya hai mera
main dar jaaungi
laaj ke maare main mar jaaungi
hume koi dur se nihaare
aaungi main nadiya kinaare
hume koi dur se nihaare
aaungi main nadiya kinaare
karo na ishare piya pyaare
aaungi main nadiya kinaare

gore gore mukh pe ye chhota sa jo til hai
til nahi hai ye to mera pyar bhara dil hai
mera pyar bhara dil hai
gore gore mukh pe ye chhota sa jo til hai
til nahi hai ye to mera pyar bhara dil hai
mera pyar bhara dil hai
lutte ho iske najaare
aaungi main nadiya kinaare
karo na ishare piya pyaare
aaungi main nadiya kinaare

Song #18
Aayi bahar hai hum beqraar hain

His next movie in 1951 was Hamari Shaan, a movie directed by Balwant Bhatt featuring Durga Khote, Yakub Khan Mehboob Khan, and Bharat Bhushan.

Chitragupt composed eight songs in the movie and only one was penned by Raja.

It is important for me to give you this since it is the first time Kishore Kumar sang Raja’s lyrics though as a duet with Shamshad Begum.

Please enjoy: Aayi bahar hai hum beqraar hain….

aayi bahar hai hum bekarar hai
kaisa musibat hai bap re
bulbul hai bolta jiya hai dolta
aise me karle milap re
aayi bahar hai hum bekarar hai
kaisa musibat hai bap re
bulbul hai bolta jiya hai dolta
aise me karle milap re

dekho ji dekho hamse na karna
angreji me prem
na karna angreji me prem
hum to nahi hai git pit git pit
karle wali mem git pit karne wali mam
bharat ki nari hu mem se pyari hu
julfe to meri nap re bap re
bulbul hai bolta jiya hai dolta
aise me karle milap re
aayi bahar hai hum bekarar hai
kaisa musibat hai bap re

lambi lambi ye julfe katake
gore galo pe lali maro
phir najuk najuk hotho se
pyare pyare tum pukaro
dil mera kho gaya mujhko to ho gaya
teri mohabbat ka tap re baap re
bulbul hai bolta jiya hai dolta
aise me karle milap re
aayi bahar hai hum bekarar hai
kaisa musibat hai bap re

kyu aisi bate karte ho sajan
jinse hum sharmawe
ho sajan jinse hum sharmawe
dil ki dhakdhak badhti hi jaye
nain jhuk jhum jaye
ho sajan nain jhuk jhum jaye
hamko satao na jiya jalao ne
hamse hoga na ye pap re baap re
bulbul hai bolta jiya hai dolta
aise me karle milap re baap re

Song #19
Meri yaad mein tum na aansu bahana

On the 6th day, yesterday, we covered two movies: Ustad Pedro with eight songs and Hamari Shaan with one song. Both were 1951 movies. I gave you three of them.

(Courtesy: en.wikipedia.org)

If, in the first six days (I give you, on my page Lyrical on Facebook, three songs everyday since the last several years), you have been overwhelmed, well on the 7th day we start with his 1951 movie Madhosh.

Elsewhere I have already told you that the movie was based on Romeo And Juliet. It was a JBH Wadia production that was also directed by him. The movie starred Manhar Desai, Meena Kumari and Usha Kiran.

There were nine songs in the movie, all composed by Madan Mohan and all penned by Raja Mehdi Ali Khan:

1.”Meri Yaad Me Tum Na Aansu Bahana” – Talat Mahmood
2. “Jab Aane Wale Aate Hain, Phir Aake Chale Kyo Jaate Hai” – Lata Mangeshkar
3. “Mere Dil Ki Nagariya Me Aana, Na Aa Ke Jana Balam Pardesiya” – Lata Mangeshkar
4. “Hame Ho Gaya Tumse Pyar Bedardi Balma” – Lata Mangeshkar
5. “Chhod Mujhe Na Jana, Dil Ko Na Mere Dukhana” – Lata Mangeshkar
6. “Pagdi Pahan Ke Turredar Akadta Kyo Hai” – S D Batish, Shamshad Begum
7. “Meri Aankhon Ki Neend Le Gaya” – Lata Mangeshkar
8. “Nazro Ke Char Hote Der Nahi Lagti (dil Dhak Dhak Dhak – 2)” – Lata Mangeshkar
9. “Dil Dhak Dhak Dhak” – Chandbala

I shall be giving you tonight all three songs from the same movie.

Lets start with the first one sung by Talat Mahmood. Elsewhere, I have already told you that Madan Mohan composed it in Raag Jaunpuri, Tal Kaherava. His excellence in composition was matched by Raja’s excellence in lyrics.

Please enjoy: Meri yaad mein tum na aansu bahana….

meri yad me tum na aasu bahana
na ji ko jalana, mujhe bhul jana
samjhna ke tha ek sapna suhana
vo guzara zamana, mujhe bhul jana
meri yad me

juda meri manzil, juda teri rahe
juda meri manzil, juda teri rahe
milegi na ab teri meri nigahe
mujhe teri duniya se hai dur jana
meri yad me

ye ro ro ke kahta hai tuta hua dil
ye ro ro ke kahta hai tuta hua dil
nahi hu mai teri mohabbat ke kabil
mera nam tak apne lab pe na lana
na ji ko jalana, mujhe bhul jana
meri yaad me tum na aasu bahana
na ji ko jalana, mujhe bhul jana
samjhna ke tha ek sapna suhana
vo guzara zamana, mujhe bhul jana
meri yad me

Song #20
Pagadi pehan ke turredar akadata kyun hai

We started taking up songs of the 1951 JBH Wadia movie Madhosh and took up just one song: Meri yaad mein tum na aansu bahana and realised how beautifully Raja Mehdi Ali Khan’s relationship with Madan Mohan was shaping up.

The second song has been a discovery of mine in my series ‘Incredible Nostalgia (I.N.) Songs – Part I‘ as it showed a young Meena Kumari, in a feisty mood, singing this to the visiting son of a village zamindar. It is a teasing song and Raja and Madan Mohan did such a beautiful job of it.

Please enjoy Shamshad Begum and SD Batish singing: Pagadi pehan ke turredar akadata kyun hai….

pagdi pehan ke turredar akadta kyu hai
pagdi pehan ke turredar akadta kyu hai
tu to nahi hai thanedar
tu to nahi hai thanedar oye akadta kyu hai
pagdi pehan ke turredar akadta kyu hai

sare gaaw me nahi tera jawab re
sare gaaw me nahi tera jawab re
dil me hai gussa muh me jhuta rubab se
dil me hai gussa muh me jhuta rubab se
mathe pe sokha jhurri dal mathe pe sokha jhurri dal
oye bigadta kyu hai pagdi pehan ke turredar akadta kyu hai

hamse na tum jhagdna gaaw ki chhoriyo
dekho bhago yaha se kali or goriyo
phir na kahna hamra sardar phir na kahna hamra sardar
bigadta kyu hai pagdi pehan ke turredar akadta kyu hai

humko na tum samjhna shehar ki chhoriya
ji shehar ki chhoriya
piche hamre tu bekar
piche hamre tu bekar piche hamre tu bekar
haye padta kyu hai
pagdi pehan ke turredar akadta kyu hai

tum jesi lakho mere piche firi hai
mere kadmo me aake ro ro giri hai
kehti thi hamse wo dildar
haye kehti thi hamse wo dildar
bichhadta kyu hai kehti thi hamse wo dildar
bichhadta kyu hai
tu gurur se madhosh tere gum kar denge hosh
ja ja ja bhag ja bhag ja ja ja bhag ja
tera thanda kar de josh o tujhe kar denge behosh
ja ja ja bhag ja bhag ja ja ja bhag ja
oye ja ja ja bhag ja bhag ja ja ja bhag ja
pagdi pehan ke turredar akadta kyu hai
pagdi pehan ke turredar akadta kyu hai
pagdi pehan ke turredar akadta kyu hai

Song #21
Hamen ho gaya tumse pyar bedardi balma

I have given you two extremely nostalgic songs from the 1951 JBH Wadia movie Madhosh starring Manhar Desai, Meena Kumari and Usha Kiran.

The songs were:

1. Meri yaad mein tum na aansu bahana.
2. Pagadi pehan ke turredar akadata kyun hai.

And now I am ready for your observation: “You were, Ravi, supposed to build up to Raja and Madan Mohan relationship, which you did. However, you were also supposed to build up to Lata singing their songs but you have given only Talat, SD Batish and Shamshad Begum. Where does Lata figure in these?”

Valid observation, guys. Just hold your horses. Here we get back to Lata again.

What are the things that you remember about Raja Mehdi Ali Khan? One is that he introduced the word Aap in the songs; eg, in the 1962 movie Anpadh song: Aap ki nazaron ne samajha. The second was that he was pioneer in expressions: Here he used the expression Badardi balma and then many followed it, eg, in the 1965 movie Arzoo song: Bedardi balma tujhako mera man yaad karta hai.

This is a beautiful song in all respects: lyrics, composition and singing. Badardi balma was as much an object of love for women of that era as was Pardesi; eg, Ek pardesi mera dil le gaya.

Please enjoy Lata Mangeshkar singing: Hamen ho gaya tumse pyar bedardi balma….

sine laga liya tera khayal re

Song #22
Ye ruki ruki adayen ye bujhe bujhe sitare

His next movie in 1951 was Daman, a movie directed by Nanabhai Bhatt and starring Ajit, Karan Dewan, Nigar Sultana, Pran and Agha.

Raja, again, paired with Datta Kargaonkar. There were ten songs in the movie and Raja penned seven and one each by Ehsan Rizvi, Rijinder Krishan and Anjum Jaipuri.

Here are the seven songs penned by Raja:

1. Ye ruki ruki adayen ye bujhe bujhe sitare.
2. Chakoree ka chanda se pyar.
3. Tiru lila tiru lila gaye lata.
4. Tu jo dil leke mere peechhe aayega.
5. Dekho jhumi barsaat.
6. Ek minute mein naina char.
7. Youn marta hoon tum pe jaise.

(Courtesy: Pinterest)

We have a song with a duet between Lata and Asha Bhosle.

Please enjoy: Ye ruki ruki adayen ye bujhe bujhe sitare….

ye ruki ruki hawaye ye ruki ruki hawaye
ye bhuje bhuje sitare meri rat kat rahi hai
teri yaad ke sahare

abhi chandni jawa hai abhi raat has rahi hai
raat has rahi hai zara do ghadi to thahro
zara do ghadi to thahro mere paas mere pyare
mere paas mere pyare

tujhe kaun ye bataye mujhe bhul jane wale
tujhe kaun ye bataye mujhe bhul jane wale
tujhe yaad kar rahe hai mere aansuo ke dhare

zara aur pas ho ja zara dil se dil mila le
tere dil ki dhadkano ko tere dil ki dhadkano ko
meri aarzu pukare meri aarzu pukare

ye ruki ruki hawaye ye bhuje bhuje sitare
meri rat kat rahi hai teri yaad ke sahare

Song #23
Raat abhi baki hai dil ko karaar aaya nahin

(Courtesy: Cinestaan)

He wrote songs for six movies in 1952. Baghdad was the first one. Once again it was a movie directed by Nanabhai Bhatt and starred Master Bhagwan, Bharati Devi, Anwar Hussain and Yashodhara Katju.

Raja wrote all eight songs in the movie that were composed by Bulo C Rani:

1. Sharab e ishq aankhon ko pila de.
2. Ye pyar ki raaten ye aaj ki baaten dildar yaad rakhna.
3. Raat abhi baki hai dil ko karaar aaya nahin.
4. Ek shama hai mehfil mein parwane hazaron hain.
5. Itna gusse se garoor na karo.
6. Baharon ne chhede khushi ke taraane.
7. Khuli jo aankh to badla.
8. Kya dil kisi pe aa gaya.

Please enjoy Geeta Dutt singing: Raat abhi baki hai dil ko karaar aaya nahin….

raat abhi baki hai, raat abhi baki hai
dil ko karar aaya nahi
chhed de, haye wo nagma, tune jo gaaya nahi
raat abhi baki hai, raat abhi baki hai
dil ko karar aaya nahi
chhed de, haye wo nagma, tune jo gaaya nahi
raat abhi baki hai, raat abhi baki hai

nas nas me bas gaye wo, aansu me wo samaye
tum hi kaho ke jalim, nind ab kis ko aaye
charo taraf khushi ke, saaman jhumte hai
raat abhi baki hai, raat abhi baki hai
dil ko karar aaya nahi
chhed de, haye wo nagma, tune jo gaaya nahi
raat abhi baki hai, raat abhi baki hai

shabnami, shabnami aankho me dil hai
aur hum teri aagosh me
zindagi ek geet banke, geet banke
aa gayi aagosh me
jo mujhe kehni hai tum se, wo baat abhi baki hai
wo baat abhi baki hai
raat abhi baki hai
dil ko karar aaya nahi
chhed de, haye wo nagma, tune jo gaaya nahi
raat abhi baki hai

Song #24
Lipstick lagane wale dil ko jalane wale

Out of six movies in 1952, his second movie was Nishan Danka, a movie directed by Jayant Desai and starring Shyama, Jeevan, Tabassum and Ranjan.

There were seven songs in the movie that were composed by Basant Prakash. Raja wrote two. The others were composed by Hasrat Jaipuri and SH Bihari.

The two songs by Raja were:

1. Ek do teen chaar paanch chhe.
2. Kare safachat chale khatakhat.

We shall skip both these (first time we are doing it).

Shrimatiji was his next movie in 1952 in which he continued being with Basant Prakash but together with Jimmy and S Mohinder. It was directed by IS Johar and starred IS Johar, Shyama, Nasir Khan and Majnu.

There were ten songs in the movie; eight penned by Raja and one each by Shailendra and Hasrat Jaipuri.

Here are his eight:

1. Lipstick lagane wale dil ko jalane wale.
2. O babuji main na karun teri naukri.
3. Aashiqon ko husn ne ulat palat (Part I).
4. Nain mila lo pyar ka dar hai.
5. Barkha ki raaton mein dil jalta hai.
6. Kabhi hamare ghar bhi aao.
7. Do naina tumhare pyare pyare.
8. Aashiqon ko ishq ne ulat palat (Part II).

I shall be giving you two; one today and one tomorrow.

The first one is a beautiful song sung by Shamshad Begum and a composition of Basant Prakash (one of his two in the movie).

Please enjoy: Lipstick lagane wale dil ko jalane wale….

lipstick lagane wale dil ko jalane wale
ab chulha ab chulha jala rahe hai
chulha jala rahe hai haye haye haye
chulha jala rahe hai chulha jala rahe hai
lipstick lagane wale dil ko jalane wale chulha jala rahe hai
paudar lagane wale tir chalane wale
ab chamcha ab chamcha chala rahe hai
ab chamcha chala rahe hai
chamcha chala rahe hai haye haye haye
chamcha chala rahe hai chamcha chala rahe hai
lipstick lagane wale dil ko jalane wale chulha jala rahe hai

nakhun jo saware yu tesh laga laga ke
wo gish gaye nigode chatni bana bana ke
yu phesh lagane wale nakhra dikhane wale
ab kachra ab kachar utha rahe hai ab kachar utha rahe hai
kachar utha rahe hai haye haye haye
kachar utha rahe hai kachar utha rahe hai
lipstick lagane wale dil ko jalane wale chulha jala rahe hai
ma ne tha humko pala ande khila khila ke
kismat ne mar dala dande khila khila ke
phalwa udane wale ando ke khane wale
lipstick lagane wale dil ko jalane wale chulha jala rahe hai

ghar me tha jo bhi aalu girvi pada huaa hai
baniye ka beta bhundu usko baza raha hai
din rat gane wale piyano bazane wale haye
ab chimta ab chimta baza rahe hai ab chimta baza rahe hai
chimta baza rahe hai haye haye haye
chimta baza rahe hai chimta baza rahe hai
lipstick lagane wale dil ko jalane wale chulha jala rahe hai

I have divided all the best songs of Raja Mehndi Ali Khan on my page Lyrical into four nearly equal parts.

I hope you liked my choices in Part I.

Please await Part II.

I have done a long stint in the Indian Navy that lasted for nearly thirty seven years; I rose as far as my somewhat rebellious and irreverent nature allowed me to. On retirement, in Feb 2010, the first thing that occurred to me, and those around me, was that I Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (you will find an article with this title in this blog) and hadn't lost all my noodles and hence thought of a blog titled 'This 'n That'. I later realised that every third blog is called 'This 'n That' and changed the name to 'Sunbyanyname'. I detest treading the beaten track. This blog offers me to air 'another way' of looking at things. The idea is not just to entertain but also to bring about a change. Should you feel differently, you are free to leave your comments. You can leave comments even when you agree and want to share your own experience about the topic of the blog post.
