♥ Good morning friends,

Love gives you the strength to go on,
When everything else has simply gone.
Love shines like a beacon of light,
Guiding you through the darkest night.
When everything else in your life fails,
It is Love that helps you tip the scales.

As one year of these poems nears the end,
The last few days on Love I want to spend.
I believe Love is, for God, another name,
Come to think of it, God and Love are the same.
And that’s why my focus on this theme,
The subject of Love always makes me beam.

Volumes can be written on this subject,
And yet we won’t have covered every aspect.
Tenacity of Love is the sub – theme today,
And, as you notice, I have a lot to say.
Love doesn’t fade with the fading years,
It doesn’t die when the end of your life nears.

Love is more precious than all the world’s treasures,
It gives more happiness than all other pleasures.
It doesn’t require weapons to safeguard.
The word to be used for it is ‘die-hard’.
A person of Love has God on his side,
You can’t go wrong with Him as your guide.

Why would anyone love anyone?
Is it just for frolic and fun?
How much of it is sacrifice?
What do you have to pay as price?
How do you know you are in love?
Do you get a signal from God above?

Some say it is a matter of chemistry,
But to most it still remains a mystery.
As to why just one and no one else would do,
If only someone would provide a clue.
Lovers being strangers just a moment ago,
Are suddenly closer than anyone they know.

Everyone knows Love is not a reasoned emotion,
Else, you won’t fall in love but do so in slow motion.
It affects your entire life but it overpowers you,
Without your knowing it totally showers you.
Love doesn’t give you, between several, a choice,
All you can do is to trust God and rejoice.

Love is the only one whence you fall and win,
You glow in its light outside and within.
You’re sure your loved one was born for you
And hence there is no one you can take in lieu.
You suddenly find answers to many a question,
Before long your love is your obsession.

One performance enhancing drug is legal,
It is simply called Love.
You soar in the sky like an eagle,
Though you feel more like a dove.
Love can move mountains and cross seas,
Indeed, it can do anything with ease.

In a Russian earthquake many years ago,
A mother and child, for days, were under debris.
She fed her child her own blood, so,
It could survive the quake to a great degree.
Finally when rescued they were still alive,
It was Love that made them miraculously survive.

Love can actually achieve many a great feat,
Its powers know no bound,
It hasn’t heard of anything called defeat,
It is the biggest strength to have around.
With Love, there is nothing you can’t achieve,
All that you have to do is in its power to believe.

Love is the true face of our God,
His own endless powers are in it vested.
It is something that one can truly applaud,
After making it even He rested.
Imagine sharing His own power with everyone,
He put in our hands how the world can be won.

♥Good morning friends,

Yes, Love is the most powerful emotion,
But, does it have healing powers too?
I believe it works like a magic potion,
More effective than any medicinal brew.
Most medicines cure you only physically,
Love also cures you mentally and spiritually.

Do you remember the time when we were small,
Cough, cold and fever would make us sick?
Mother would hug, kiss and wrap us in her shawl,
More than the medicine, her love would do the trick.
I think the only reason we became unwell,
Was so that her Love would even stronger dwell.

Let’s say there is bad blood between you and someone,
And for years it has made your lives hell.
Just try Love before the day is done,
And see how quickly things turn out well.
As a prophylactic Love keeps you from the pain,
That would have otherwise made you insane.

I recommend Love to heal many a complication,
I have tried and found it effective.
Let your soul too go through the purgation,
Suddenly for better is changed your perspective.
The best is that it has no Expiry Date,
For the healing to start, you don’t have to wait.

Sometimes a question arises,
As to whose love is greater,
That of wife, husband, son or daughter,
Father, mother, brother or sister?

We should know that love doesn’t compete,
Each one has its own significance.
Love is always and only between hearts,
Relationships are mere coincidence.

Two persons don’t have to be related,
For love between them to grow.
They may not even know each other,
But the hearts would always know.

God made Love independent of relations,
Like between Radha and Krishna.
Being born of the same God is enough,
You don’t even require same charisma.

I feel God wants us to love one another,
In God We have same Father or Mother,
Don’t restrict Love to who we think are our own,
Wife, husband, uncle, aunt, sister or brother.

A beggar on the street is also our own,
He has the same flesh and blood.
Just because in our ignorance he is unknown,
Our relationship with him can’t be nipped in the bud.

Do you look for a reason for everything?
And get perturbed when sometimes you find nothing.
Do uncertainties of life cause you concern?
Are you ruffled when a cause you can’t discern?

If you are able to live with ambiguity,
With uncertainty and incongruity;
You are someone with great composure,
In everything you don’t look for total disclosure.

Many things happen for no apparent reason.
Even if there is one, you can’t envision.
Only God knows things happen the way they do,
Many are beyond the grasp of me and you.

Even if you find out How and Why,
What exactly does it signify?
Why can’t you trust God and let it be?
Knowing everything doesn’t set you free.

God, I don’t understand an iota of what you created,
But not knowing doesn’t get me agitated.
I don’t know what you have in mind,
All I know is that you are always kind.”

“God, I know you reveal to me what I must know,
What you don’t tell me doesn’t hurt my ego.
When things happen without apparent reason,
I don’t think of these as unholy treason.”

Things happen at a particular time,
You can’t hasten them, no matter what you do.
You’d see that for no special reason or rhyme,
Sometimes you can’t let your plan go through.
And then suddenly everything falls in place,
Of your disappointment, there is no trace.

It is the same with people in your life’s train,
Everyone you meet has a definite purpose.
Some may board to give you joy or pain,
Others may be there just to make you nervous.
Try your best, they won’t change,
Something that you think is strange.

Of course, many things you can alter,
But there are many that defy your control.
Before you can call each one a defaulter,
Just examine what exactly is your role.
Let things and people be as free,
As you in your thoughts want to be.

Happy is the one who let them be as they are,
Recognising the limits of his or her control.
He is the one who avoids getting a scar,
By not making changing these his life’s goal.
So be at home with people and things,
And don’t control them with your mind’s strings.

When two paths lie before you:
The Right and the Wrong;
Which one do you normally pursue?
On which do you tread along?
Most people choose the easy way,
Very few would righteousness display.

It takes a long time to build character,
The ability to stand out alone.
You face many a detractor,
But you refuse to bend your backbone.
In the end you emerge the winner,
The one who chose Wrong is the sinner.

You are the one who can face your conscience,
You’ve the ability to look yourself in the eye.
You are never afraid of the subconscious,
Most temptations you can easily defy.
You occupy the moral high ground,
You rejoice on being a rare one around.

If life would belong to those who choose the Wrong,
We can predict the end of the world is near.
The righteous invariably emerges strong,
He has no peer, he has no fear.
Hold your head high and choose the Right,
Admire yourself for being forthright.

Your eyes are the windows of your mind and heart,
Though many feel these are things apart.
What you see is a reflection,
Of your own heart’s complexion,
Indeed, in everything your mind plays a part.

What you see is a matter of your sight,
But whether it is sad or a delight,
Is decided by your mind,
Who is often inclined,
To prevail over your own eyesight.

Thus it tells you, “Such and such looks queer,”
Someone that we must dislike or sneer,
It compares the image with a perception,
That causes an instant deception,
And tells you either to love or to fear.

You can’t do away with this process,
It is actually something fascinating that you possess.
However, just remember you may err,
Even about things that you see out there,
There is, many a times, a need to reassess.

How many of us are able to read correctly,
When important lessons Life gives out?
Some are given directly but most are indirectly,
But we are still filled with unsurety and doubt.
These precious lessons then lie in vain,
Instead of learning we merely complain.

Life is the greatest teacher of them all,
There is so much to learn as we go along.
Some of us, not a single one, can recall,
Others by these have actually emerged strong.
These are provided by God totally free,
But we pretend to be blind and don’t see.

Many lessons are meant for a life’s phase,
You just can’t apply them later at will.
Some would last only for a few days,
Like the expiry date on a medicinal pill.
We can save ourselves grief if we act,
But we fail to gauge their impact.

We pray to God to give us various things,
And He often makes our prayers come true.
We never ask for ability to read what Life brings,
Most often than not we haven’t got a clue.
So, let’s ask God to gift us the blessing,
That Life’s lessons don’t find us guessing.

The reach of Omens and Superstitions,
Is to be seen to be believed.
Not just the old fashioned have such traditions,
But even the educated are often deceived.
No one wants to take a chance,
Everyone appears to be in a trance.

Ah, it is just a cat crossing your way,
Or you observed a falling star.
But a sense of disquiet you betray,
When suddenly you stop your car.
You don’t believe in the “crazy” omen,
But you have butterflies in your abdomen.

These unreasonable practices become stronger,
With each passing generation.
To get rid of these becomes longer,
These then become rules not aberration.
Imagine your soul escaping with every sneeze,
Or a solitary sparrow making you freeze.

Start believing in yourself than in this nonsense,
Don’t let superstitions control your mood.
Don’t let these affect your performance,
Or dictate your behaviour and attitude.
Question all doubts and suspicions,
Analyse all omens and superstitions.

God is God and Man is Man,
This simple fact alludes us all.
We try to play God when we can,
In making others around us feel small.
We pass judgements in God’s name,
And feel others are worthy of blame.

God is, by and large, our own interpretation,
And hence, playing God, we find it easy.
Not many can resist this great temptation,
About making others about Sin feel uneasy.
We place ourselves at a height,
Ascribing ourselves the right to be right.

If we were to be conscious of not playing God,
We would, in our claims, be more modest.
Not perfect, we’d know we’re often flawed,
And hence be humble whilst being honest.
We’d keep in mind we may be mistaken,
And feeling of humility we would awaken.

So, let’s consciously stop playing God,
And realise we can all make mistakes.
Only God is perfect, we are all flawed.
We should be as forgiving as it takes.
We should then be full of humility,
And of acting superior realise the futility.

Don’t let desires become so strong,
That they assume the importance of Needs.
Put them in a place to which they belong,
That’s where you dump weeds.
Like weeds they spoil your life’s garden,
Uproot them before their hold they harden.

Desires also ruin your life’s direction,
You get obsessed to fulfill them.
Gradually you become averse to introspection,
They too become difficult to stem.
Finally, they, not you, are in control,
They eventually become life’s only goal.

Chasing desires can’t be life’s aim,
Else, God provides for your need.
You lose your identity, you’re never the same.
You become puppet to the strings of your greed.
You’re born in the image of God,
You choose to have your life flawed.

Break the shackles and emerge free,
Don’t remain captive to your desires.
Your contentment is your happiness’s key,
Don’t destroy your house in their fires.
Find and realise your life’s goal,
Don’t sell to your desires your soul.

‘What have I got of my own?’
The answer really makes me feel bad.
There are more things unknown than known,
My ignorance makes me feel sad.

I am insignificant and small,
A drop in an ocean describes my being.
Feeling alone I have no one my own to call,
And then there is Time that’s always fleeing.

Earth and even galaxies look like dots,
In the vastness of the entire universe.
Seen from Space they look like mere spots,
Things and Life are so diverse.

Am I then so minor and insignificant,
Making little difference to the cosmic world?
Who says I am God’s Creation that is magnificent?
When would that Reality be unfurled?

I remain immersed in deep thought,
And still the purpose of my being eludes.
My littleness often makes me distraught,
I have, like everyone, swings of moods.

And then a little voice within tells me,
‘You’re made in the likeness of the Creator.
You may be small but your Spirit is free,
There isn’t in the Universe anything greater.’
