When everything else fails….

♥Good morning friends,

There is something God has given us,
In every situation to cope,
When everything else fails to cheer,
He has given us the instrument of Hope.

Hope is nothing but a small prayer,
So that our situation can be changed.
It gives us courage to fight,
With forces that against us are ranged.

Even if we don’t pray at all,
There is always the rainbow of Hope,
This is so that when we live our life,
It won’t be like walking a tightrope.

Those who often blame God,
That an imperfect world He has made;
Should think of how He helped to get over,
Situations without getting dismayed.

It is just that we often take,
All these things for granted;
When our Hopes and Prayers come true,
We never say those are what we wanted.

So let Prayer and Hope help,
To put song on your lips today;
“Dear God, you know what I need,
But you still gave me to hope and pray.”

….there is still Hope.

Love and Ego….

♥Good morning friends,

If your ego comes in the way,
Of your good sense today.
Think of it as your loss.
Don’t let it somehow convey,
What you don’t want to say,
That you allow it to be your boss.

Often it keeps you from enjoying,
Those moments that turn annoying;
You allow head to rule your heart.
The other can be very trying,
And you can be at the verge of crying,
But ego is never good on your part.

So, let’s say no to our ego,
And tell it better we know,
Than to allow it to become our master.
It appears high but it is actually low,
And doesn’t allow relations to grow,
And it often spells disaster.

….can never go hand in hand.

When we feel our prayer is not granted….

♥Good morning friends,

Many times we feel our prayer is not granted,
God didn’t properly hear what we’d wanted.
If only we’d know,
That it is not really a ‘no’.
There is no reason for us to be disenchanted.

He doesn’t know us only through our prayer,
We are, at all times, in His care,
He listens to our request,
And decides what is, for us, the best,
And gives us, what He thinks, is more than fair.

Being unhappy with His blessing is mistrust,
There should never be a reason for disgust.
He always means well,
Many times we can’t tell,
What’s good for us for which pray we must.

….we should think twice before losing faith.

How can we understand God….

♥Good morning friends,

A thought on my dad’s 35th death anniversary:

Dad, years after your death,
I understood you and understood God.
And hence now before my last breath,
I salute thee, appreciate and applaud.
Good sense has visited me rather late,
But, still I feel it was worth the wait.

I still remember the day I got the shocking news,
Lyn was about to deliver and we lost you.
Suddenly I was asked to step into your shoes.
I asked myself what, in that situation, you’d do.
I simply did everything the way you would.
On my own there was nothing that I could.

Gradually I realised how hard it was to fight,
Against those seeped in parochialism and corruption.
You had taught me how to weigh what’s wrong and right,
And you showed me how to deal with life’s disruption.
And everytime I realised how you fought alone,
Against all the dangers known and unknown.

If we take so much time to understand dad,
How much time is needed to know God?
We are only a few children who find our dad mad,
There are billions who find God’s universe flawed.
Dad, thank you for teaching me even after you’re gone,
And now, because of you, to God I am drawn.

….when we take so much time to understand dad?

Anything is possible….

♥Good morning friends,

Can a fish, on earth, walk?
Can an elephant actually fly?
Can you make a dumb talk?
Can a blind see with his eye?

Can a cripple be made to run,
Can a pauper become a king?
Can storm give way to sun?
Can a sad man suddenly sing?

Anything is possible through God,
He can change, in a jiffy, your situation.
None of this can look odd,
He has for these things a reputation.

Have faith and don’t ever give up,
If you’re passing through a tough patch.
Look cheerful and prepare to live up,
You can restart from a scratch.

For God nothing is ever impossible*,
It should be the same with you.
Just say: “Yes, it is possible,
There is nothing that He can’t do.”

*In Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji this passage about the powers of God (eg “Prabh bhaave tanh….) occurs repeatedly. We ought to believe in it.

Will God make distinction of my colour, caste or creed….

♥Good morning friends,

Should I be a Christian, Muslim, Sikh or Hindu,
O God, so as to be nearest to you?
What should be my colour, caste or creed,
So that in being your best devotee I can succeed?

Each faith and religion believes in just one God,
Which is its own whilst that of others is flawed.
In such a scenario ’tis difficult for me to make a choice,
Hence, so as to choose right, can you lend me your voice?

And lo and behold, this voice actually spoke.
And cleared all my doubts in just one stroke:
“All I want from you is to believe in me and love,
No faith or religion is below nor one is above.”

“Even those are close to me who have no religion at all,
But when they speak to me from their heart, I do hear their call.
I made people and they divided themselves in sects,
To me all are same in all ways and respects.”

“I loved my children even before Religion was born,
Fot those who divide people I only have scorn.
You were meant to love one another without bias of any kind,
No one should feel greater, no one should feel maligned.”

Thank you, God, for clearing one more of my doubts,
I would never be taken in by the priests and their clouts.
They like to add to their numbers as if it is a race,
The way they go about doing it is nothing less than disgrace.

Thank you, God, for letting me know, I am one to one with you,
I don’t require those who divide people with tricks old and new.
In the end I belong to just one religion that you gave me:
I love you and I love, without bias, all humanity.

….or will He just love me as I am?

Thank God there is God….

One fact of life we must applaud,
Anywhere you go, there is always God.
Whenever and if you feel sad and alone,
You always have near you someone who’s your own.

I thank you, God, that you are always there,
Every moment in time and everywhere.
Whenever I call you, you are never, from me, far,
Of your kindness and love there is endless reservoir.

The best thing about your Creation is You, my God,
You are the only Reality, rest all is facade.
Let me all the time sing of your glory and praise,
Let me see you in everything, everywhere and always.

….everywhere and always.

You are never alone on this earth….

♥Good morning friends,

How our actions affect others is not entirely known,
All that we need to remember that in this world we ain’t alone.
Both in Time and Space,
We don’t fully know the interface.
There are many variables that are unknown.

We should, hence, for others be considerate,
Whenever any action we contemplate.
Even if we feel it affects only us,
And others have no right to discuss,
There is no harm, with others, to deliberate.

….so always think of others.

Humour is the salt of life….

In life, for Humour always have a place,
In most situations it gives you adequate grace.
You can lower your stress,
And clear your way to success,
And it lends colour and glow to your face

Your ability to take things in your stride,
Is better received than if you had cried.
Your humane touch,
Is appreciated much,
And shows you possess a lighter side.

You get into the habit of seeing the silver lining,
And cut out from your repertoire the whining.
When you don’t take yourself seriously,
Your problems vanish mysteriously,
And your future? Well, it is always shining.

….it actually heals.

Live every minute of life…

We tend to take those things for granted,
That occur with some regularity.
By their occurrence we are so enchanted,
That we actually lose the required clarity:
Nothing in this world is definite or sure,
We should never fall prey to the lure.

What’ll happen the next moment we don’t know,
Any moment can actually be our last.
Messenger of Death can deal a final blow,
And live and kicking can become past.
We should be guided by Life and not death,
Live it up, friends, until the last breath.

Death is for dying but Life is for living,
Life is the one that we should be focused at.
It should never lead to any misgiving,
To the Joy of Living we should raise our hat.
One day, we all have to leave,
But in Life, not in Death, we ought to believe.

….and don’t die before you do.

Love other human beings….

♥Good morning friends,

God made human beings to love one another,
As if the other one is our own sister or brother.
Everything on earth points to this simple fact,
Between us and other human beings there is a pact.

If God wanted us by ourselves to live alone,
The benefits of togetherness He won’t have shown.
If we go back in times to beginning of life human,
Each one of us is related to being born to same man and woman.

Love is between human beings the natural feeling,
Hatred destroys but Love is always healing.
Love other human beings as if your own,
Everyone has similar blood, flesh and bone.

….as if your own.

Don’t let go of the child completely….

♥Good morning friends,

Why do we love children so much?
Whether strangers or our own.
Innocent to look at, having the soft touch,
They’re more pleasant than anything we’ve known.

They may not appear to be worldly wise,
They tackle each task with a fresh approach.
Their innocence is a blessing in disguise,
Most things that they do are beyond reproach.

They’re enthusiastic about trying new things,
They don’t think twice before talking to strangers.
They take in their stride all mood swings,
They’re not deterred by obstacles and dangers.

Isn’t there a lesson in this for all of us?
We need to be childlike even when growing old.
Wisdom and knowledge are just superfluous,
We need to go beyond rules and break the mould.

A child is innovative and questions tradition,
A child doesn’t hold grudges for long.
A child does things for others without precondition,
A child accepts it quickly when it is in the wrong.

Whilst growing if we let go of the child,
We gain a little but lose much more.
Yes, to growing old we’ve to be reconciled,
But the need to be childlike we shouldn’t ignore.

♥Good morning friends,

Today is the day to celebrate,
These messages are three hundred days old.
I hope I have been able to communicate,
Lessons that needed to be retold.
Thank you for staying with me this long,
Thank you for making me and these strong.

In the beginning even I doubted,
Whether I would be able to go this far.
But then, each day, when a new one sprouted,
I started seeing them as they are.
These have been thus a lesson to me too:
‘One step at a time can see me through.’

You and I have formed a great association,
In devouring these ditties one day at a time.
Both of us have together savoured the sensation,
Of accessing wisdom through reason and rhyme.
Please stay with me in the coming days,
A new trail we’ve been able to blaze.

♥Good morning friends,

Easter, for us serves as a reminder,
That God can and will never die.
If at all, He emerges more loving and kinder.
You can never, to Good, bid good-bye.
Again and again Good over Evil prevails,
No matter, in the cross, you drive many nails.

Jesus demonstrated to us as a man,
The power of Good over Evil.
Good was, is and will be God’s plan,
He demonstrated it in times mediaeval.
This Easter let’s celebrate this fact,
God and Goodness shall stay intact.

….let’s celebrate the Risen Lord.

Listen to the songs of silence….

♥Good morning friends,

Sometimes silence can convey more than words,
Please watch even animal and birds.
They sit far but appear to have nearness,
Without anything spoken there appears to be clearness.
When they are alone and not in flocks or herds.

Silence as a language conveys much more,
There is much meaning in it even after or before.
We must be trained to hear,
By the heart and not the ear,
What silence conveys to us from its endless store.

….through the medium of your heart.
