GOOD MORNING MESSAGE #250

You would have wasted the day….

Good morning friends,

Will you make someone smile today?
Will you be able to wipe someone’s tears?
Will you stop a friend from going astray?
Will your presence allay someone’s fears?
If not, you would have wasted the day,
Please do something about it right away.

However miserable you think you are,
There are others more miserable than you.
At least you have, of resources, a reservoir,
They, even for meals, stand in a queue.
God made you their messenger of hope,
So that with their destiny they can cope.

Most often you are not to share anything,
Other than empathy, a smile, a pat or a hug.
Of course there is great joy in freely giving,
And not to dismiss their needs with a shrug.
Give and earn a coveted place next to Him,
Give and bring cheers when things are grim.

In any case all that you have is actually His,
He only wants you to be His chosen man.
Don’t think about what was, will be and is,
Have faith in and rejoice in God’s plan.
“God, thank you that you chose me to share,
I can now be answer to someone’s prayer.”

….if you haven’t brought a smile to someone’s face.

I have done a long stint in the Indian Navy that lasted for nearly thirty seven years; I rose as far as my somewhat rebellious and irreverent nature allowed me to. On retirement, in Feb 2010, the first thing that occurred to me, and those around me, was that I Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (you will find an article with this title in this blog) and hadn't lost all my noodles and hence thought of a blog titled 'This 'n That'. I later realised that every third blog is called 'This 'n That' and changed the name to 'Sunbyanyname'. I detest treading the beaten track. This blog offers me to air 'another way' of looking at things. The idea is not just to entertain but also to bring about a change. Should you feel differently, you are free to leave your comments. You can leave comments even when you agree and want to share your own experience about the topic of the blog post. Impudent or otherwise, I have never been insousciant and I am always concerned about the betterment of community, nation and the world. I hope the visitors of this blog would be able to discern it.

  1. 👏🙏🏻very well said Ravi Sahib,
As preached and taught by Guru Sahibans, to some extent it is still being said and followed traces of the same are also visible among Sikhs – Naam Japna – Vand Shakna. It should not be taken by its literal meaning, by doing that we end up in doing Langar Seva only. Ofcourse nothing is more important than giving food to hungry stomach/heart/person which is very essential for keeping us or anyone alive. We should also extend our helping hand to the needy person who is in distress requiring our mental or physical or reasonable financial support without having regards to or knowing his religion and cast, Colour and creed. When such an attitude is developed and displayed as and when opportunity is afforded, this world will become much more happier than what it is today writhing in pain due to economical, physical, mental, social and emotional problems etc.
Therefore we must look after each other in hour of need or grief. Our consideration should Not be based on and towards just the people that are close to us, but anybody who needs a helping hand.
Individually I must ask/think my myself that I can’t change the way anybody else thinks or what they choose to do, but what bit I can do under the prevailing circumstances.
This was the thinking, preaching and practices of Guru Sahibans and all great men of the past. There are people now also but very few/negligible in numbers. This world is never without kind hearted and philanthropists people. However without His grace and blessings such thoughts don’t occur in our mind. As long as we don’t think and understand that we all belong to same source/origin, such an act of helpful indulgence will always remain a distant talk and remote possibility to the overwhelming majority of human beings living on this planet.
An excellent thought provoking composition Ravi sahib. Congratulation n thanks.
    Regards
