GOOD MORNING MESSAGE #141

A world of your own….

From the first of June, 2018, I started writing Good Morning messages in the form of poems (Please read: ‘Good Morning Message #1‘).

The last such message was: Good Morning Message #140‘.

Good morning Friends,

The world is a large place to live in,
Even a metropolitan city is rather huge.
Believe you me you don’t have to give in,
To becoming someone’s pliable stooge.

You can simply decide which is your world,
A world that is always entirely your own;
In which your own flag is sometimes unfurled,
Wherein you are a king who sits on a throne.

I’ve myself been using such a world for long,
And retire there when I feel down and out;
Lo and behold, I am loved there and I belong;
Many a times it has been my favourite hangout.

In this world I choose my own music and books,
And how and when to speak or to be silent;
In this world I don’t care about my looks,
I choose when to be calm and when violent.

Here I am Jolly Miller living on the River Dee,
There is no one to disturb my peace and pride;
I don’t care for those who don’t care for me,
Anything that ruffles me I simply override.

You too can have a virtual world of your own,
It doesn’t cost a thing to have and maintain;
A world where you are with yourself alone,
Where your true self you can easily unchain.

…..within the world you live in.

I have done a long stint in the Indian Navy that lasted for nearly thirty seven years; I rose as far as my somewhat rebellious and irreverent nature allowed me to. On retirement, in Feb 2010, the first thing that occurred to me, and those around me, was that I Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (you will find an article with this title in this blog) and hadn't lost all my noodles and hence thought of a blog titled 'This 'n That'. I later realised that every third blog is called 'This 'n That' and changed the name to 'Sunbyanyname'. I detest treading the beaten track. This blog offers me to air 'another way' of looking at things. The idea is not just to entertain but also to bring about a change. Should you feel differently, you are free to leave your comments. You can leave comments even when you agree and want to share your own experience about the topic of the blog post. Impudent or otherwise, I have never been insousciant and I am always concerned about the betterment of community, nation and the world. I hope the visitors of this blog would be able to discern it.

  1. I actually wanted to comment this on your “can Mumbai become another Shanghai” blog. But it had some problem so I’m posting it here….
    I hope that’s ok

    I completely agree with you we should not and can not compare Mumbai with Shanghai.

    But my point is, wasn’t Shanghai a small fishing village once. So how did they managed to make it magnificent as it is now. Who was behind all those efforts. The answer is its people.
    China and USA had a lot of visionaries before they reached their mark.

    I believe in doing and making people aware to do something and not just speaking and criticizing.
    I see you spreading awareness but I would like to know what you have done to make the country great and Mumbai great.
    Some will say I’m not from Mumbai so why should I even care for its development. but will have no problem in criticizing it.

    I say don’t just wish the country gets developed overnight automatically. Don’t see your country solving its problems without you. Instead play your role in the development and make sure you don’t die without contributing anything.

    You can do much more than you think. If you don’t think so, you are thinking the wrong way. Select one problem and start thinking about the solution to tackle it. Then DO EVERYTHING required. For instance if you need to gather people then gather them, if you need to find funds then find.
    And I want to assure you that I will definitely bring some change and expect same from everyone, contributing whatever they can, huge or little dosent matters.

    And lastly,
    THE ONE WHO HAS NOTCONTRIBUTED ANYTHING OR DONE ANYTHING FOR THE COUNTRY AND ITS PROBLEMS SHOULD HAVE NO RIGHT TO CRITICIZE IT.

    I deeply think that the country should learn form the Indian Armed Forces.
