GOOD MORNING MESSAGE #166

Let me be myself….

From the first of June, 2018, I started writing Good Morning messages in the form of poems (Please read: ‘Good Morning Message #1‘).

The last such message was: Good Morning Message #164‘.

Good morning Friends,

Each one of us is born an individual who’s unique,
Yet, no one respects a person’s individuality anymore;
On Internet, for example, you’re tracked till you shriek,
For everything you do, they give you options to explore.
One-size-fits-all is the new catchphrase,
Intervention into privacy is a huge malaise.

Let alone your preferences, selections and choices,
They can now even track and predict your thought;
There is uproar around you, there are many voices,
You are always hassled, always made to be distraught.
Even for a minute they don’t leave you alone,
Your private life is almost becoming unknown.

With all suggestions and cues, constant do that and this,
You respond almost like puppets in a show;
There is no way these unwanted guests you van dismiss,
They are there with you wherever you go.
All that they want is your money and time,
Nothing works with them, no reason or rhyme.

Let me be by myself‘ sounds like a weak protest,
But, I can visualise it growing into a strong clamour;
By this invasion of privacy people are getting stressed,
It is almost like being constantly under a hammer.

The courts are directing to cut out, eg,  invasive noise,
But, vested interests want to have their old evil ways;
Hasn’t one a right to privacy in his own house that he enjoys,
Or speakers, Internet and other means should ruin his days?

….I respect your privacy, please respect mine.

GOOD MORNING MESSAGE #165

Who we really are….

From the first of June, 2018, I started writing Good Morning messages in the form of poems (Please read: ‘Good Morning Message #1‘).

The last such message was: Good Morning Message #164‘.

Good morning Friends,

The theme of my current music Fest is Kaun (Who),
It is a relevant question for both me and you,
It is easier to see who others are,
But, you really have to travel far,
To find, about your own identity, a suitable clue.

One identity is that you are someone’s daughter or son,
That is, attached to someone but of your own, none.
You can be a dad or brother,
A sister, aunt or a mother,
But, who you really are, by yourself, under the sun?

To find out who they really are, people have spent ages,
And it is not just true of the saints and the sages.
And it has not been a sudden revelation,
That has led to their own salvation,
But, it has come about gradually, in various stages.

Discovering who we really are makes us complete,
In Sri Guru Granth Sahib* it is given as ‘Man jeete jag jeet‘**.
You can’t hope to find life’s goal,
Without looking into your own soul,
Or without paying attention to your own heartbeat.

Takes us almost the whole life to find out….

GOOD MORNING MESSAGE #164

If you are about to give up….

From the first of June, 2018, I started writing Good Morning messages in the form of poems (Please read: ‘Good Morning Message #1‘).

The last such message was: Good Morning Message #163‘.

Good morning Friends,

So, you’re about to give up, you’ve had enough,
Life, you’ve concluded, has been rather tough.
Nothing seems to click,
You’re, of it, totally sick,
There appears to be no way out of the rough.

Failure appears to stare you in the face,
It would be nice to get out of the “rat-race“.
You want to call it a day,
And come what may,
You don’t want to live with failure and disgrace.

But, wait a minute, have you given a thought,
About what you had in the beginning sought?
Why should you give up now,
And take a hurried bow,
Why can’t you give it just one more shot?

How’d you know success is just a step away,
And life is waiting for you with a big bouquet?
You give up before the dawn,
But find the dark night has gone,
Won’t you actually regret it the very next day?

Hold on a little longer and please persevere,
Believe that your chosen goal is very near.
Yes, there is much pain,
And unstoppable rain,
But, wait for the colourful rainbow to appear.

….believe that you are close to the top.

GOOD MORNING MESSAGE #163

The power of Love is infinite….

From the first of June, 2018, I started writing Good Morning messages in the form of poems (Please read: ‘Good Morning Message #1‘).

The last such message was: Good Morning Message #162‘.

Good morning Friends,

Love is the most powerful of all emotions,
It is the strongest of all known potions.
When you are driven by love,
You always have God above,
You can climb mountains and cross oceans.

Say you are a leader with people you command,
And you have a near impossible task at hand;
Your love for your team,
Makes them see the silver beam,
And they make you feel that they do understand.

People have sacrificed lives in love of their nation,
We have viewed their feats with great admiration.
Even in the face of death,
And even up to their last breath,
Their love has given them unheard of inspiration.

Then they are others who love what they do,
They are men and women like me and you.
They look at the impossible,
And make it seem very possible,
Their love and passion always sees them through.

God gave us Love and in our hands put power,
He Himself has been Love’s beacon or tower.
He has shared our joys,
And given us great poise,
Whenever we’ve passed through the difficult hour.

…..just like God’s.

GOOD MORNING MESSAGE #162

People are lonelier than ever before….

From the first of June, 2018, I started writing Good Morning messages in the form of poems (Please read: ‘Good Morning Message #1‘).

The last such message was: Good Morning Message #161‘.

Good morning Friends,

With a massive increase in world’s population,
And amazing boom in means of communication,
Isn’t it a surprising and sad fact of our times,
That people feel more loneliness and alienation?

Everyone’s a photographer, actor, and writer*,
You may be bright, but, of course, I’m brighter“,
Gone are the days when you could call a friend,
Share your sadness and concern and feel lighter.

The increased focus on self has done us all in,
With bigger bread, the butter has to spread thin,
People can spend loads of money on loved ones,
But to spend time with them is becoming a sin.

People are actually lonelier than ever before,
Some don’t know who is the neighbour next door,
Ever increasing numbers commit suicides now,
But, people don’t appear to care anymore.

Education, Friendship, everything is an investment,
I’ve seen people carrying out a careful assessment,
As to how much return would be there on each,
There is, therefore, always cause for resentment.

We certainly need to take corrective action,
And have more person to person interaction,
How strange it is at this stage we should take stock,
That cellphones, over people, have greater attraction?

….we need to do something here and now.

GOOD MORNING MESSAGE #161

The key to good health is the Mind….

From the first of June, 2018, I started writing Good Morning messages in the form of poems (Please read: ‘Good Morning Message #1‘).

The last such message was: Good Morning Message #160‘.

Good morning Friends,

You may feel it is in supplements,
Or in keeping a strict exercise regime;
You may also rely on medicines and ointments,
Or standing for hours in a Sunbeam.
But, one thing all of us ultimately find,
The secret to good health is in the mind.

Yes you can eat the right food,
And avoid all such curses as smoking,
But, it is your mind that decides your mood,
And that’s always health provoking.
And hence one thing all of us ultimately find,
The secret to good health is in the mind.

So, those with positive health always possess,
A mind that generates positive thought;
Mental well being is key to physical fitness,
Else everything can be reduced to naught.
No wonder one thing all of us ultimately find,
The secret to good health is in the mind.

Take care of it and keep it under control,
It can be your worst enemy or best friend,
If good all round health is your real goal,
Then a good healthy mind I strongly recommend.
Train it and you will always find,
There is nobody more faithful than your mind.

A Mind with positivity generates positive health….

GOOD MORNING MESSAGE #160

We must never hate the wrong-doer….

From the first of June, 2018, I started writing Good Morning messages in the form of poems (Please read: ‘Good Morning Message #1‘).

The last such message was: Good Morning Message #159‘.

Good morning Friends,

All virtues on earth are relative,
There is none that is absolute;
We need not, thus, be negative,
About someone’s evil attribute.
One man’s meat is another’s poison,
We can’t see the complete horizon.

We never have all the facts with us,
To declare one’s good would be for all;
It would be simply one sided and thus,
A claim that would be rather too tall.
One man’s meat is another’s poison,
We can’t see the complete horizon.

A good that we can simply swear by,
May be evil when looked in another way;
So when someone’s wrong we decry,
Do we know what it was meant to convey?
One man’s meat is another’s poison,
We can’t see the complete horizon.

“Forgive them, Father”, said Christ on Cross,
“For they know not what they do.”
It was not just Romans but all of us, because,
As humans, we never have the total clue.
One man’s meat is another’s poison,
We can’t see the complete horizon.

So next time you look down on someone,
Who has, you feel, done an obvious wrong;
Try to remember if you actually know anyone,
Who has been good and right all along.
One man’s meat is another’s poison,
We can’t see the complete horizon.

….unless we are ready to hate the entire humanity.

GOOD MORNING MESSAGE #159

It is a lovely feeling being alive….

From the first of June, 2018, I started writing Good Morning messages in the form of poems (Please read: ‘Good Morning Message #1‘).

The last such message was: Good Morning Message #158‘.

Good morning Friends,

It is a lovely feeling being alive,
To breathe in air, to smell the breeze;
To be able to see one’s children thrive,
To put one’s grandchildren on one’s knees.
God is always generous and kind,
He gives us occasions to unwind.

Each one of us is getting old by the day,
We look back happily at the past we made;
True, life has not been one great holiday,
But neither is it to make us dismayed.
God is always generous and kind,
We are excited when we click: ‘rewind’.

I remember re-reading old classics again,
Every time a new flavour one is able to draw;
It is the same with meeting old friends, when,
Recalling old times you break into a guffaw.
God is always generous and kind,
Some thrill in old times we always find.

All of us are here today and gone tomorrow,
But, there is great joy in being where we are;
None of us leave behind as much as a shadow,
Only the rarest of the rare becomes a star.
And yet, God is always generous and kind,
Each of us gets to have peace of mind.

…..lets be thankful for it.

GOOD MORNING MESSAGE #158

Seeing the world from another person’s perspective….

From the first of June, 2018, I started writing Good Morning messages in the form of poems (Please read: ‘Good Morning Message #1‘).

The last such message was: Good Morning Message #157‘.

Good morning Friends,

Because it is required for our survival,
We think of self-interest all the while;
We don’t appreciate God’s gift that is vital,
We often miss another man’s view by a mile.
God gave us the power to be introspective,
To see the world through another perspective.

There are many on whom this gift is wasted,
But there are some who put it to good use;
Success and goodwill the former have tasted,
The latter? Well, they’ve cooked their own goose.
To understand another person’s point of view,
Often gives an unthought of breakthrough.

If you’ve always based things on your viewpoint,
And to the others’ perspective you’ve been blind,
Your efforts have been one sided and never joint,
You didn’t see things from another frame of mind.
In your effort to be seen as right and perfect,
Your chances of becoming great you wrecked.

Great leaders always carry their team along,
They rarely steamroll in a bid to be in command;
They make each member of the team to belong,
To the success of the task that is taken in hand.
Men don’t follow orders that are at them thrown,
They do better when thinking of these as their own.

….is a gift given only to Mankind.

GOOD MORNING MESSAGE #157

How many languages do we require?

From the first of June, 2018, I started writing Good Morning messages in the form of poems (Please read: ‘Good Morning Message #1‘).

The last such message was: Good Morning Message #156‘.

Good morning Friends,

How did people actually communicate,
When no languages had been evolved?
Were signs and gestures considered adequate,
Or mutual problems were left unresolved?

When did humanity  learn how to express,
Emotions through words, written or spoken?
We think, through language, we now possess,
That important link that was, in the past, broken.

Did silence have the same meaning then,
As it has now when many languages we speak?
When did we know there’s power in the pen,
When did people learn to try tongue in cheek?

Did we just make simple things more complex,
By surrounding ourselves with words and phrases?
Is advanced knowledge meant only to perplex,
Does God too talk to us in a tongue that amazes?

Seriously, do we at least know where we’re going,
With such modern means of communication?
Is understanding between people really growing,
Or, despite languages, we still have frustration?

Can we overcome barriers of dialect and tongue,
And evolve a common language of heart to heart?
Will a universal anthem of people remain unsung,
In which everyone can understandably take part?

Some things like Love and Kindness were always beyond words.

GOOD MORNING MESSAGE #156

Don’t search for a good friend…..

From the first of June, 2018, I started writing Good Morning messages in the form of poems (Please read: ‘Good Morning Message #1‘).

The last such message was: Good Morning Message #155‘.

Good morning Friends,

Blessed are those who have good friends,
One, two, three, four or as many as tens;
Investment in money have doubtful results,
Investing in friends brings rich dividends.

Friends share with you a special bond,
To cheer you up they have a magic wand;
Many stay with you throughout your life,
Some close ones are with you even beyond.

They share your interests and many a mood,
They have the same liking in drinks and food;
They may have opinions different from yours,
They can be straightforward but never rude.

When chips are down friends stand for you,
Friends always know what you’re going through;
The whole world may lie shamelessly at your face,
Friends are the ones who are never untrue.

Numbers don’t make up for how true they are,
It doesn’t matter whether they’re near or far;
Just one loyal friend is sometimes much better,
Than of fair weather friends a complete reservoir.

Looking for friends, as above, can be tough,
They look okay outwardly but what’s inside stuff?
But, one method I have found that never fails,
Be a good friend yourself, that’s more than enough.

…..be a good friend.

GOOD MORNING MESSAGE #155

Habits make us what we are…..

From the first of June, 2018, I started writing Good Morning messages in the form of poems (Please read: ‘Good Morning Message #1‘).

The last such message was: Good Morning Message #154‘.

Good morning Friends,

Nothing on earth creates as much debate,
As the subject of habits that define us.
On one hand, our lives habits regulate,
On the other their ill effects we often discuss.
Were it not for the habit of earth to rotate,
To us the idea of ‘Time’ we would negate.

We ask people not to their habits be slave,
Whilst habits are even necessary to survive;
Habits tell us how things would behave,
Giving us knowledge that keeps us alive.
The best dogs have their habits perfected,
Habits tell us what exactly is expected.

Our breathing is a habit we can’t do without,
The daily chores that we do are some more;
Excellence is to be good in habits, no doubt,
Practice makes a man perfect is proven folklore.
If it hadn’t be for habits, I would say.
The world’d be a chaotic place to stay

So what’s it in habits that we often detest?
Is it that we feel habits deter innovation?
Think that when natural disasters manifest,
Things, from habits, do show deviation.
Doing things over and over again,
Is as natural as the Sun and the rain.

Habits are not something to run away from,
You have to decide which are good for you;
Early bird gets you if you’re habitually the worm,
But becoming a lion is never a taboo.
Good habits make you perfect,
Bad habits make you suspect.

…..invest in good habits.

GOOD MORNING MESSAGE #154

Don’t kill the child in you…..

From the first of June, 2018, I started writing Good Morning messages in the form of poems (Please read: ‘Good Morning Message #1‘).

The last such message was: Good Morning Message #153‘.

Good morning Friends,

We all want to grow up faster,
When we are, as children, small;
To jump from the title ‘Master’,
We want to be called ‘Mister Tall’.
Oh, to be a child again.
To walk on clouds, to play in the rain.

We wanted to be stronger,
And quickly gain more powers;
We wanted to wait no longer,
Neither years, months nor hours.
Oh, to be a child again.
To walk on clouds, to play in the rain.

It seemed all the wisdom on earth,
Would come our way as we grew;
It appeared we would soon be worth,
More than anyone thought or knew.
Oh, to be a child again.
To walk on clouds, to play in the rain.

Looking back it’s more than clear,
That was indeed life’s best time;
There wasn’t anxiety nor any fear,
To laze and laugh wasn’t a crime.
Oh, to be a child again.
To walk on clouds, to play in the rain.

Best were the dreams we then had,
To look at the future with aspiration;
Stepping on moon wasn’t seen as mad,
The mind didn’t entertain a limitation.
Oh, to be a child again.
To walk on clouds, to play in the rain.

The lesson then is not hard to find,
Grow up and learn all things new;
Simultaneously, keep this in mind:
Don’t ever kill the child in you.

….. you’d need it in your later years.

GOOD MORNING MESSAGE #153

Joys and sorrows are same for a man…..

From the first of June, 2018, I started writing Good Morning messages in the form of poems (Please read: ‘Good Morning Message #1‘).

The last such message was: Good Morning Message #152‘.

Good morning Friends,

It is given to the very few,
To take joys and sorrows in their stride.
And if such a person is indeed you,
You lead a life that is satisfied.
Joys and sorrows aren’t two distinct moods,
These are outcomes of different attitudes.

The same event can be viewed differently,
By different people in different situations;
Whilst one looks at it almost fervently,
The other can be led to frustrations.
So, it’s not the event that causes the feeling,
It is one’s reaction that is revealing.

As we go along we learn more and more,
About how our reactions decide what we are,
So when we conclude life is a bore,
It may be a reflection of some inner scar.
One can decide to be in complete command,
Or allow one’s emotions to gain the upper hand.

Blessed are you if you ain’t a slave,
To the swings of your heart and mind,
You know exactly how each would behave,
When it’s boundaries by you are defined.
You’d find joys all around,
When you’re not, to your emotions, bound.

…..who is not a slave to his emotions.

GOOD MORNING MESSAGE #152

How much Courage does one need?

From the first of June, 2018, I started writing Good Morning messages in the form of poems (Please read: ‘Good Morning Message #1‘).

The last such message was: Good Morning Message #151‘.

Good morning Friends,

There is more courage required to live,
Than one requires to face the death;
One needs to have courage to forgive,
Those who almost took away one’s breath.
Looking yourself straight in the eye,
Would also require courage very high.

When everyone has gone the wrong way,
You require courage to stand alone;
There is courage in not  going astray,
When everyone’s morality has easily blown.
When everyone is simply prone to lie,
You need courage to hold the truth high.

You require courage to stand against the unjust,
Especially when they bully those who’re meek,
One should be held in great distrust,
If to injustice one turns the other cheek.
Of what use is your courage, my friend
If to others a helping hand you can’t lend?

You require courage to bear the loss,
Of loved ones who are very dear to you;
You require courage to carry the cross,
Of your own sins and those near to you.
You need courage to own up you’ve erred,
In your plans you’d carefully prepared.

One needs more courage than one can imagine.
