GOOD MORNING MESSAGE #151

There is some Music in everyone….

From the first of June, 2018, I started writing Good Morning messages in the form of poems (Please read: ‘Good Morning Message #1‘).

The last such message was: Good Morning Message #150‘.

Good morning Friends,

Music, like Love, is the common thread,
That binds people across the globe.
You can see Music, like wildfire spread,
Unless you are a die-hard xenophobe.
Nothing like music to make friends,
Nothing like music to make amends.

Take the case of nations as enemies,
Plotting to raze the other to ground,
They have hated each other for centuries,
Sane voices in hostility have been drowned.
Yet, other’s music can make them dance,
Music, between them, is still a romance.

Power of Music we need to acknowledge,
It really is a language everyone understands;
It appears greater than all known knowledge,
It connects people of even diverse lands.
There is some music in all God’s things,
In rivers, mountains, ponds and springs.

Listening to the Music of Nature is refreshing,
Of birds, rain, seas, animals, plants and trees;
It is free, available all the time, and caressing,
Just lean your ears and listen to the breeze.
Music may be God’s way to say:
Always have a melodious day.

……there is some music in everything.

GOOD MORNING MESSAGE #150

If God were to appear to us one day….

From the first of June, 2018, I started writing Good Morning messages in the form of poems (Please read: ‘Good Morning Message #1‘).

The last such message was: Good Morning Message #149‘.

Good morning Friends,

If God were to appear to us one day,
What would we think of asking of Him?
Would we tell Him to cast our worries away?
Or tell Him to fill our cup of joys to the brim?
Have we thought of a plan, my friend?
Or are we to meet Him only in the End?

Imagine that our prayers have borne fruit,
And God has agreed to fulfill just one desire,
Would we then think of the real destitute?
Or would we only think of what we require?
Have we thought of a plan, my friend?
Or are we to meet Him only in the End?

Would we tell Him to end all wars on Earth,
And direct His people to always live in peace?
Would we tell Him to change tears into mirth,
All sorrows, disasters and miseries should cease?
Have we thought of a plan, my friend?
Or are we to meet Him only in the end?

Would we just thank Him for what He’s given,
And fervently bow to His will and command?
And ask that for our sins we may be forgiven,
As also, in times of need, to guide our hand?
Have we thought of a plan, my friend?
Or are we to meet Him only in the end?

…..would we be ready or full of confusion?

GOOD MORNING MESSAGE #149

It is not just virtues that are relative*….

From the first of June, 2018, I started writing Good Morning messages in the form of poems (Please read: ‘Good Morning Message #1‘).

The last such message was: Good Morning Message #148‘.

Good morning Friends,

Distances, like all virtues on earth, are relative,
Though these can be measured exactly in length;
A couple’s state of mind can tell us how sensitive,
Each is to their relationship’s weakness or strength.

A truly loving couple thinks nothing of them:
“We are looking at the same stars and the moon.”
“There is no reason for us to be sad or glum”,
“Just wait, we shall be together again very soon.”

Distance actually makes their hearts go fonder,
They long, they miss, they love and cherish,
They are apart but their hearts don’t wander,
Separation for them is never really nightmarish.

Conversely you can be close and yet very far,
If there is nothing in common between you;
You can be well outside each other’s radar,
Even if physically closer than you ever knew.

Hence the very concept of far and near,
Depends upon whether you love or hate;
If you love even far would closer appear,
If you hate your closeness can frustrate.

This is one example of how even absolutes,
Appear differently with different attitudes;
It is not as if they suddenly changed attributes,
It is a pointer towards controlling our moods.

….even absolutes can appear relative!

P.S. Please read ‘Absolute Virtue‘.

GOOD MORNING MESSAGE #148

God made all things beautiful….

From the first of June, 2018, I started writing Good Morning messages in the form of poems (Please read: ‘Good Morning Message #1‘).

The last such message was: Good Morning Message #147‘.

Good morning Friends,

God made all things beautiful and good,
Flowers, birds, earth, rivers and the sky;
Nobody can even dream of what He could,
He could make the fish swim and birds fly.
And then our history He began,
For He made woman and man.

He gave him the responsibility to provide,
And gave her the powers to procreate;
And when He was, with them, satisfied,
He said each would be the other’s playmate.
And thus the mankind progressed,
And both felt doubly blessed.

Their children became women and men,
In the likeness of the original Creator;
There was reason for jubilation when,
Both became equal, not lesser or greater.
They, therefore, make each other complete,
And should never with each other compete.

So next time you see a woman or a man,
Think of him or her in the image of God;
Imagine him or her as part of his holy plan,
Someone that we should rightly applaud.
Each one is worthy of our love,
Each one represents God above.

…..use their beauty to love and not hate.

GOOD MORNING MESSAGE #147

God resides in you and me….

From the first of June, 2018, I started writing Good Morning messages in the form of poems (Please read: ‘Good Morning Message #1‘).

The last such message was: Good Morning Message #146‘.

Good morning Friends,

Some go looking for God in the mountains,
Some search for Him in stars and skies.
Some think He is in rivers, seas and fountains,
Yet others perceive Him to be always in disguise.
Look within and you can see,
God is actually in you and me.

Our eyes find it difficult to look and find God,
We have to see Him through our heart and soul;
Our five senses are invariably somewhat flawed,
They see bits and pieces but never the whole.
See Him with your heart and you’ll agree,
God is actually in you and me.

Why do we need to keep God in our mind?
Why can’t we go on living our lives without Him?
Well, He is the Creator  and not just of Mankind,
We can always see Him in everything, however dim.
Don’t have to think of God as He or She,
God is actually in you and me.

Having God in everything and always with us,
Is the greatest strength and reassurance we obtain;
God is our Creator, Protector, Friend and thus,
Devotion for Him can never go in vain.
Everything is myth, He is the Reality,
God is actually in you and me.

……recognising God in everything is the only Reality of the Universe.

GOOD MORNING MESSAGE #146

There are so many things in life you can’t keep….

From the first of June, 2018, I started writing Good Morning messages in the form of poems (Please read: ‘Good Morning Message #1‘).

The last such message was: Good Morning Message #145‘.

Good morning Friends,

There are many things in life we can’t store or keep,
One of them is what we use every night: sleep.
We should keep it in mind,
This lesson that is well defined,
It is actually profound, thought-provoking and deep.

Life is not meant to be used at some later day,
It is meant to be used at this moment and today.
It doesn’t gather interest,
Just because you give it rest,
Like money in a bank to be withdrawn after time delay.

It is in the nature of the Man to be possessive,
Thinking of permanence of Life becomes obsessive;
But like the example of sleep,
Which you can’t store or keep,
To the idea of transience of things he should be submissive.

Another relevant example is that of Lily of a Day,
That, as the poet reminded us, is fairer far in May;
It doesn’t dream of living forever,
Or to wilt and die never,
But it spreads beauty during its very short stay.

We should, therefore, enjoy things here and now,
And not store and prolong their life somehow,
Life itself is passing,
Which is really a blessing,
So that everything doesn’t become sweat of the brow.

…..so, enjoy them whilst they last.

GOOD MORNING MESSAGE #145

How to feel young when you are getting old?

From the first of June, 2018, I started writing Good Morning messages in the form of poems (Please read: ‘Good Morning Message #1‘).

The last such message was: Good Morning Message #144.

Good morning Friends,

Everybody wants to look young, when getting old,
Some rely on work-outs, others colour their hair;
Many use face lifts and remedies that are untold,
Some even think of means that are rather unfair.

Colourful shirts and pants are part of the game,
Some even use phrases that’re in with the boys.
Then there are those whom I’ve often heard claim,
That thinking like you’re young brings one real joys.

You can try out many methods above and more,
And still feel that youth is actually slipping away.
So I shall give you a method you can explore,
If you see merit in it you can even start today.

(Image courtesy: momarock-wordpress.com)

To rejuvenate yourself take up a hobby that is new,
Writing, music or poetry which you couldn’t do before,
It should be something that you’ve set your heart to,
And not something that becomes yet another chore.

Gradually, raise your level from novice to expert,
Discuss with people who have the same passion;
You would see that you don’t even have to exert,
What keeps you young would be this obsession.

Gradually, you would have an interest in life,
Exactly how you had when you were still young,
You’d feel free of stress, you’d be rid of strife,
Joie de vivre your own way you would have swung.

Begin a new hobby, begin life anew.

GOOD MORNING MESSAGE #144

Strange are the ways of the Mind…

From the first of June, 2018, I started writing Good Morning messages in the form of poems (Please read: ‘Good Morning Message #1‘).

The last such message was: Good Morning Message #143‘.

Good morning Friends,

Strange are the ways of the mind,
It remains, to the future, blind,
But thinks too much of the past.
It chooses to be, in a cage, confined,
And appears to be looking behind,
Not for the next, but for the last.

Instead of being a man’s faithful slave,
It does in a strange manner behave,
And assumes the role of a man’s boss.
When the situation is sometimes grave,
It seems to be getting, well, a brainwave,
To compare it with one it has come across.

Therefore, the Mind needs to be trained,
And just like a galloping horse reined,
To keep it under check and control.
There is nothing at all to be gained,
If the Mind remains totally unrestrained,
Rather than moving towards your set goal.

To make it learn, start with a small game,
And set for it an achievable mark or aim,
And see to it that it meets with success.
Don’t listen to an excuse that is lame,
And gradually see it becoming tame,
And observe, like a student, its progress.

Slowly, but surely, a day would dawn,
When your mind becomes your pawn,
And works for you as you wish and faster.
Not looking at the things that are bygone,
It becomes ready to actually move on.
Taking your command as its Master.

…..but, it can be trained to be your slave.

GOOD MORNING MESSAGE #143

Why do we have to be grateful to God?

From the first of June, 2018, I started writing Good Morning messages in the form of poems (Please read: ‘Good Morning Message #1‘).

The last such message was: Good Morning Message #142‘.

Good morning Friends,

Can you answer a question, it’s not tough,
God has given you and me lots of stuff,
But has it ever occurred to us to turn to Him,
And say: “Thank you, God, we’ve had enough”?

Being grateful during our life on earth,
Shows we know, of the things, true worth,
God may not have given loads of money,
At least, of essentials, we’ve had no dearth.

One sure way to be thankful is to compare,
With those for whom even essentials are rare,
One can see them too being grateful to God,
Even though, unlike us, they’ve nothing to spare.

And if ever God gives us a little adversity,
Or we are required to face some scarcity,
We should do so without losing our balance,
In an atmosphere of calm and serenity.

I know of a way in which we can be rich,
No, it is not to go ahead and simply snitch.
It is to be totally satisfied with what we have,
Without having to satisfy let-me-have-more itch.

Because He always gives us more than we ask for.

GOOD MORNING MESSAGE #142

Is it possible to be happy without a reason?

From the first of June, 2018, I started writing Good Morning messages in the form of poems (Please read: ‘Good Morning Message #1‘).

The last such message was: Good Morning Message #141‘.

Good morning Friends,

If for changing your mood you look for reason,
That makes you happy when you have been sad,
Well, moods are not unlike climates or seasons,
Suddenly from being melancholic you can be glad.

Don’t you accept the sun shining through rain?
Or bright flowers blooming in deserts or in frost?
So why is it difficult to smile through your pain?
Or feel like a winner when you think you’ve lost?

If sometimes you can be sad for no reason,
Why can’t, without a reason, you feel bright?
Will it, against yourself, be counted as treason,
If, of your troubles and miseries, you make light?

Smile through problems and see the change,
In those who want to see you sad and down;
They would be defeated, they’d find it strange,
You’ve joy on face when they expect a frown.

And such situations you face almost everyday,
When you can’t find a cause for your mood;
Just accept it without any alarm or dismay,
And don’t look for reason that may be skewed.

Control your moods and not other way round,
Be a master of your emotions and not a slave,
Don’t let a wave sweep you off the ground,
Wherever you go take with you your own wave.

Why not when you can be sad without reason?

GOOD MORNING MESSAGE #141

A world of your own….

From the first of June, 2018, I started writing Good Morning messages in the form of poems (Please read: ‘Good Morning Message #1‘).

The last such message was: Good Morning Message #140‘.

Good morning Friends,

The world is a large place to live in,
Even a metropolitan city is rather huge.
Believe you me you don’t have to give in,
To becoming someone’s pliable stooge.

You can simply decide which is your world,
A world that is always entirely your own;
In which your own flag is sometimes unfurled,
Wherein you are a king who sits on a throne.

I’ve myself been using such a world for long,
And retire there when I feel down and out;
Lo and behold, I am loved there and I belong;
Many a times it has been my favourite hangout.

In this world I choose my own music and books,
And how and when to speak or to be silent;
In this world I don’t care about my looks,
I choose when to be calm and when violent.

Here I am Jolly Miller living on the River Dee,
There is no one to disturb my peace and pride;
I don’t care for those who don’t care for me,
Anything that ruffles me I simply override.

You too can have a virtual world of your own,
It doesn’t cost a thing to have and maintain;
A world where you are with yourself alone,
Where your true self you can easily unchain.

…..within the world you live in.

GOOD MORNING MESSAGE #140

Are Memories enough to go by?

From the first of June, 2018, I started writing Good Morning messages in the form of poems (Please read: ‘Good Morning Message #1‘).

The last such message was: Good Morning Message #139‘.

Good morning Friends,

So the person who you loved has left,
As everyone must some time or the other;
The heart is aching and the soul is bereft,
It could be lover, brother, sister, or mother.

There is a strange void, there is a heartache,
There appears to be nothing left to hold;
You feel it’s bad dream, though you’re awake,
Your heart is numb and your lips are cold.

You look for some sign of God’s secret plan,
A reassurance that all is not actually lost;
And then you remember how it all began,
Gradually, you see the clearing of the frost.

Memories come flooding in and you smile,
Thinking of the beautiful times you had spent;
There is gleam of sunshine in your hour of trial,
There is reason to rejoice even when you lament.

And now in you something curious takes place,
Your heart is gleeful even when eyes have tears;
Even in sadness and sorrow you still find solace,
Gradually you get the sign God still really cares.

God gave us memories to recall when in sorrow,
And wistfully think of happy times we’ve had;
So why not make great memories for tomorrow,
To make us cheerful when events make us sad?

Yes, if we cared to work on them when we had time.

GOOD MORNING MESSAGE #139

Be aware of the limits of knowledge.

From the first of June, 2018, I started writing Good Morning messages in the form of poems (Please read: ‘Good Morning Message #1‘).

The last such message was: Good Morning Message #138‘.

Good morning Friends,

It is always good to have lots of knowledge,
You may require it even to exist and survive;
But no one teaches you in school or college:
That with knowledge you can’t get into overdrive.

Also, knowledge is not just for acquiring,
It has to be put to practice or good use;
It surely is what can be called uninspiring,
If you think of your knowledge as an excuse.

People who value knowledge know its limits,
They don’t pretend to always know everything;
They know it is not really a cause for low spirits,
If they are sometimes ignorant about some thing.

Having knowledge should give one humility,
And not arrogant enough to win each clash;
A wise man always understands the futility,
Of using his knowledge that makes him brash.

Finding reasons for everything around us,
Is also great fallacy of modern education;
One doesn’t have to start making a fuss,
If one sees an exception or an aberration.

We should know beyond an iota of doubt,
That we shall never know everything;
Hence, it doesn’t make sense to go about,
Pretending we actually know all of anything.

And be humble when interacting with others.
Think it possible that you may be wrong or mistaken.

GOOD MORNING MESSAGE #138

Science or Faith, which one is greater?

From the first of June, 2018, I started writing Good Morning messages in the form of poems (Please read: ‘Good Morning Message #1‘).

The last such message was: Good Morning Message #137‘.

Good morning Friends,

From yesterday’s Heart and Mind debate,
Lets shift to that between Faith and Science.
Which one carries, for us, more weight?
On which should we have more reliance?

The fact is that we actually live by both,
Both Science and Faith make us complete;
We require Faith for our spiritual growth,
But, Science would never become obsolete.

When dealing with Truth, Reality and Facts,
Both show us the way, both have limitations;
Whilst a number of things Science attracts,
Its exceptions can simply lead to frustrations.

As seen by me, there is really no difference,
Between ‘Truth’, ‘Reality’ and ‘Perception.
Since there is no Absolute, it’s only inference,
Even Reality sensed by us can be misconception.

That should teach us humility in all interactions,
Even when we think all facts and truth we know;
We should avoid all rigid and angry reactions,
On someone’s reality, a fit we mustn’t throw.

Good Morning, my friends, who’ve stayed with me,
Each day brings us new knowledge and yearning;
We are all together on this fascinating journey,
Of carrying forward our collective learning.

Everything is what you believe it to be.

GOOD MORNING MESSAGE #137

Heart or Mind, which one to follow?

From the first of June, 2018, I started writing Good Morning messages in the form of poems (Please read: ‘Good Morning Message #1‘).

The last such message was: Good Morning Message #136‘.

Good morning Friends,

Between Heart and Mind, which one to follow?
That’s the question that often stares us in the face,
Many a time our pride we need to swallow,
Following the Heart when Mind could win the race.

It is really dependent upon the situation at hand,
No one can have a clear-cut and ready answer;
Sometimes, it doesn’t come out as planned,
One has to walk carefully like a tight rope dancer.

I often give in to the heart when I should,
Really listen to the sane advice of the mind;
Many a times I haven’t really understood,
Whether it is better to be right or to be kind.

But, then I really have no regrets in the end,
Losing in a situation to give someone a smile;
It has been important for me to win a friend,
Than have many personal triumphs to compile.

So, in this case, I can’t give you a clear advice,
You have to find for yourself the right course;
All I can say is don’t try to be too precise,
Let the mind lead and let the heart endorse.

Nobody wants to be called a heartless person,
Who always follows the dictates of the reason;
But, sometimes so that things don’t worsen,
Your Mind has to be the Flavour of the Season.

Let the Mind lead and Heart endorse.
